© K. Kiely 2014 ¿Cuál parte es la raíz? Hay dos partes del verbo: la raíz y la terminación y ya sabemos de las terminaciones de –AR, -ER e –IR. Claro, la parte que no es la terminación es la raíz. There are two parts to the verb: the stem (the root) and the ending and we already know the endings of –AR, -ER, and –IR. Of course, the part that is not the ending is the stem (the root). Ejemplos: preferir raíz terminación pedir raíz terminación raíz terminación querer raíz terminación servir Los verbos eie Hay unos verbos que tienen un cambio de raíz de “e” a “ie”. El cambio es siempre la vocal cerca a la terminación –AR, -ER, o –IR. There are verbs that have a stem-change from “e” to “ie”. The change is always the vowel close to the –AR, -ER, or –IR ending. Ejemplos: Las terminaciones son como todos los otros verbos –AR, -ER, -IR pero la raíz es diferente. La raíz cambia para todas las formas excepto nosotros y vosotros. The endings are the same as for all other –AR, -ER, and –IR verbs, but the stem (root) is different. The stem changes for all forms except for nosotros and vosotros. El cambio El verbo cambia en la forma de una bota. The verb changes in the shape of a boot. (That is, all the forms but nosotros and vosotros.
