Benefits outweigh the risks
Laura Hernandez enjoys traveling and
swimming with her three children. She
wants to protect them and hopes they have
a
healthy
future.
The
human
papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one way
to protect their future and prevent cervical
cancer.
University Health System mailed a
flyer to Hernandez about the HPV vaccine.
She learned it helps prevent females from
getting cervical cancer. After reading it, she

The HPV vaccine helps protect against cervical cancer. Males and females 9-26 years old can
get the vaccine. It is given in three doses. Hernandez feels the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the
risks. It “prevent[s] them from contracting the HPV virus.”
“Think of your children. Parents need to take advantage of this opportunity, to get our kids the
vaccine,” said Hernandez. Her daughter Viviana agrees, “I think it is an opportunity for us not to get
really sick.”

Los beneficios superan los riesgos
Laura Hernandez disfruta viajar y nadar
con sus tres hijos. Quiere protegerlos y espera
que puedan gozar de un futuro saludable. La
vacuna contra el virus del papiloma humano
(VPH) es una forma de proteger su futuro y
prevenir el cáncer de cuello uterino.
El University Health System le envió por
correo un folleto a Hernandez con información
sobre la vacuna contra el VPH. Así fue como
aprendió que esta vacuna ayuda a impedir que
las mujeres contraigan cáncer de cuello
uterino. Después de leer el folleto, expresó:

La vacuna contra el VPH ofrece protección contra el cáncer de cuello uterino. Hombres y mujeres de

nuestros hijos reciban la vacuna”, expresó Hernandez. Su hija Viviana está de acuerdo: “Pienso que nos da
la oportunidad de evitar una enfermedad muy grave”.
