ACTIVITY TITLE: THE LANGUAGE OF DISCUSSION: OPINIONS, AGREEING AND
DISAGREEING
AIM OF THE ACTIVITY: Provide students with useful sentences for discussion. Focus on
the stressed words, why they are stressed. Make students realise how important it is
to stress the correct word to be understood.
ESTIMATED DURATION: 30 minutes session
MATERIALS NEEDED: Copies of the attached activity sheets for students
ATTACHED DOCUMENTS: Activity sheets I and II for students
SUGGESTED LEVEL: B2-C1
PROCEDURE
1.- Students have a fast look at sheet I and ask questions if they need to. (3 min)
2.- Teacher asks students to complete the sentences given. This activity may be
done written or orally. (10-15 min)
3.- To do exercise B. Correct it. (15 min) Students practice in pairs discussing the
subjects exposed in Sheet II (15 min)
