Entrevista / Interview Relaciones diplomáticas Diplomatic relations Suecia y México mantienen relaciones diplomáticas desde hace más de 150 años, y tienen un diálogo en temas multilaterales, como el desarme, la reforma del sistema de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), los derechos humanos y el medio ambiente, este último como una de las prioridades en el cambio climático en particular. Entre ambas naciones se da un intercambio de visitas de alto nivel muy intenso. En febrero pasado estuvo en México el canciller Carl Bildt, ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Suecia, para asistir a foros en los que sostuvo discusiones, pláticas y conferencias. Asimismo reafirmó la importancia de México para las empresas suecas, en cuanto a comercio e inversión, y su voluntad y disposición para apoyar a México en las preparaciones de la cumbre climática COP16, que se llevará a cabo en Cancún a finales de 2010. “Estamos muy interesados en escuchar al gobierno de México, sabemos que este país es un actor multilateral global y regional muy importante.” En Suecia existe un gran número de diplomáticos mujeres, y en específico entre 25 y 30 por ciento son embajadoras. Estos datos hacen mención al hecho de que los tres últimos representantes de Suecia en México han sido mujeres. “Ha sido una coincidencia, puede que mi sucesor sea hombre u otra mujer”, afirmó Lindstedt entre risas. Sweden and Mexico have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 150 years, and a sustainable dialog in multilateral themes, like the disarmament, the reform of the system of the United Nations Organization system, human rights and the environment, the latter as one of the priorities for achieving the climatic change. There is an intense interchange of high level visits between both nations. Last February the chancellor and Minister of Foreign Relations, Carl Bildt, visited México to attend forums where he expressed his points of view, held conversations and lectures. He also stressed Mexican importance for the Swedish companies, in issues such as commerce and investment, as well as his will and disposition to support the Climate Summit (COP16), which will take place in Cancún at the end of 2010. “We are very interested in listening to Mexican Government; we know that this country is a very important multilateral global and regional actor.” There is in Sweden a large number of female diplomats, specifically between 25 and 30 percent are ambassadors. These data support the fact that the three last Swedish representatives in Mexico have been women. “It has been a coincidence, maybe my successor will be a man or another woman”, Lindstedt added laughingly.
