COP22 DECLACIÓN INTERRELIGIOSA SOBRE EL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO PARA LOS LíDERES DEL MUNDO 10 de Noviembre, 2016 Declaración de líderes religiosos y espirituales para la primera reunión de las Partes en el Acuerdo de París (CMA1) durante el vigésimo segundo período de sesiones de la Conferencia de las Partes (COP 22). www.interfaithstatement2016.org #COP22FaithStatement Contáctenos: director@greenfaith.org DECLARACIÓN INTERRELIGIOSA SOBRE EL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO PARA LA COP22 10 de noviembre 2016 Declaración de líderes religiosos y espirituales para la primera reunión de las Partes en el Acuerdo de París (CMA1) durante el vigésimo segundo período de sesiones de la Conferencia de las Partes (COP 22). En este momento histórico, mientras el Acuerdo de París entra en vigor, un consenso global sin precedentes ha producido un marco común para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, y construir una resiliencia mayor a los impactos climáticos. Estamos profundamente agradecidos por el liderazgo que produjo este Acuerdo y también estamos conscientes de los retos y la complejidad venidera. Este es el tiempo de tomar acciones urgentes. En cada una de nuestras creencias, encontramos la obligación moral de no perjudicar a los y las demás, la obligación moral de ser personas justas y el llamado a cuidar a quienes están en situación vulnerable. El cambio climático nos reta al ver sus efectos a escala mundial, afectando de manera desproporcionada a las comunidades empobrecidas y marginadas. Su sufrimiento y las pérdidas, son motivo de aflicción para cada una y cada uno de nosotros. Por lo tanto, el trabajo que hagamos en los próximos diez, cinco, y hasta dos años, determinará cómo saldremos de la crisis y cómo tomaremos control de los impactos del cambio climático. Individual y colectivamente, debemos actuar sobre la realidad de la crisis climática, para que el daño que infligimos a nuestra Tierra sagrada cese, y los ecosistemas de los que depende toda vida puedan sanar. En este momento crítico, mientras los gobiernos implementan el Acuerdo, debemos aumentarnuestra conciencia y discernir lo que significa estar en una relación correcta entre nosotras y nosotros, con la Madre Tierra y los demás seres vivos. Nuestro deseo por el poder y el crecimiento ilimitado, están teniendo consecuencias devastadoras al dejar contaminada, empobrecida y vulnerable a nuestra comunidad de la Tierra. Por esto, hoy le pedimos, a quienes toman decisions sobre el financiamiento, la producción y la distribución de los sistemas de energía, basar sus decisiones mediante una posición humilde y compasiva ante la interconexión de toda la vida en el planeta. Si continuamos dañando el soporte vital de nuestro sistema, a través de la sobreexplotación, la contaminación y la destrucción del clima que nos protege, los minerales que nos dan vida, el suelo que nos alimenta, los océanos y las fuentes de agua dulce que nos sostienen - lo haremos, a nuestro propio riesgo. Debemos tomar medidas rápidas, guiadas por nuestra fe y trabajar en comunión, en el servicio de la comunidad global de la Tierra. El uso continuo y dañino de los combustibles fósiles y de otras industrias extractivas a nivel mundial es éticamente insostenible. Debemos alejarnos deliberadamente de la inversión en combustibles fósiles, y pedir un cambio colectivo en el uso de los fondos soberanos y los fondos de pensiones del sector público, para trasladar la inversión, de combustibles fósiles hacia soluciones climáticas. Esta acción enviará una señal importante y transformadora a los prestatarios e inversores públicos y privados de todo el mundo, y ayudará a poner fin a la era de los combustibles fósiles. Para la seguridad de la humanidad, exigimos que los Estados se alineen con la decencia ética y la buena fe, necesarias para cumplir con sus compromisos asumidos en el Acuerdo. También insistimos a todos los gobiernos, aumentar urgentemente sus acciones por el clima y su ambición, para reducir las emisiones y en armonía con la necesidad de limitar el aumento de la temperatura global a 1.5 ° C, por encima de los niveles pre-industriales. Además de centrarse en los artículos de fondo del Acuerdo, a la hora de tomar medidas para hacer frente al cambio climático, hacemos un llamado a todas las naciones a mantener las obligaciones contenidas en el preámbulo del Acuerdo. En particular, las obligaciones de los Estados en materia de derechos humanos, incluidos los derechos de los pueblos indígenas, la igualdad de género, una transición justa para las comunidades vulnerables, la seguridad alimentaria y la equidad entre las generaciones. Hacemos hincapié en que la participación plena e igualitaria de las mujeres, de las sociedades indígenas y de la juventud, en el abordaje del cambio climático, aceleran los esfuerzos hacia una economía baja en carbono y contribuyen de manera significativa a la consecución del Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) 7, que tiene como objetivo acabar con la pobreza de energía para el año 2030. Animamos a que se incrementen las flujos financieros globales, en consonancia con la meta del 1.5 C ° y se coordine más estrechamente con los ODS para reconocer la relación intrínseca entre el cambio climático, la erradicación de la pobreza y el desarrollo sostenible equitativo. Este financiamiento puede proporcionar un apoyo adecuado a las comunidades empobrecidas y vulnerables, afectadas por el cambio climático. Nos parece profundamente injusto que los países menos adelantados (PMA) se hundirán más en la deuda por pagar por un problema que heredaron. Por consiguiente, instamos firmemente a los gobiernos a apoyar un aumento equitativo de los flujos financieros globales para proporcionar una mayor adaptación humana y ecológica, sobre todo, para compensar las pérdidas y los daños, la transferencia de tecnología y el desarrollo de capacidades. Al mismo tiempo, nos preocupan los acuerdos comerciales que pueden socavar la acción climática que tanto se necesita. Exigimos por lo tanto, controles más estrictos sobre los mecanismos para la solución de las disputas en los acuerdos comerciales, que contienen disposiciones que permiten a las corporaciones desafiar las políticas del gobierno, ante los tribunales extrajudiciales. A medida que hacemos un llamado a los y las líderes del mundo para adoptar nuevas políticas que protejan nuestro preciado clima, diversas comunidades de fe y como parte de un movimiento creciente, nos hemos comprometido a desinventir en los combustibles fósiles. Los grupos religiosos están invirtiendo en soluciones climáticas, y trabajando codo a codo con las comunidades empobrecidas de todo el mundo, para reducir al mínimo los impactos del cambio climático y aumentar su resiliencia. Por lo tanto, pedimos también a nuestras comunidades de fe, ampliar su compromiso para retirar sus inversiones en los combustibles fósiles e invertir en energía renovable, y/o contratar empresas sensibles al cambio climático, en transición justa hacia el uso de energías renovables. A lo largo de la historia, nuestras tradiciones religiosas han proporcionado apoyo e inspiración en tiempos de grandes desafíos o transformación. Debemos comprometernos con nuevas formas de vida que hagan honor a las relaciones dinámicas entre todas las formas de vida, para profundizar la conciencia y la dimensión espiritual de nuestra vida. Hacemos un llamado a todas las personas que viven hoy en día, a inspirarse en el esfuerzo, la esperanza, la sabiduría y la reflexión espiritual, para que nuestra juventud y las futuras generaciones puedan heredar un mundo más solidario y sostenible. Este es el tiempo de dar un paso hacia adelante y actuar en unísono como fiduciarios/ as de la Madre Tierra. Juntas y juntos debemos apoyarnos en este progreso y así llegar más lejos y más rápido.
