So what kind of church building do we want? As your pastor, my
responsibility is to pass on a Catholic identity. So the building itself should be easily identifiable, inside and out, as being a Catholic church.
The church will be on a raised foundation (4-5 feet higher than
the rest of our buildings), about where the “Calvary Crosses”
currently stand, facing south.
I would favor an emphasis upon the people entering through the
front doors. To this end I see a large entry area – both uncovered and covered –to gather us before/after Mass; perhaps
covered side arcades descending right and left from the main
entrance toward the parking areas. I have a unique idea that involves constructing a bridge to bring us from the current plaza
area between the chapel and the office that extends to the front
of the church. I also prefer a bell tower, a choir loft, a basement
crypt for confessions and quiet prayer.
If you are curious about what I think a quality Catholic church
should look like, I would suggest a visit to the recently completed
St. Bernadette in Scottsdale. I would also suggest that you take
a look at the chapel of Aquinas College in Nashville, Tennessee

When the time comes to present ideas and ask for suggestions,
we will schedule several evenings for parishioners to gather and
discuss the design of the new church. We will announce these
events in advance. And if you visit any churches that you might
like to imitate, please show us photos or tell us the location.

“¿A Donde Nos Dirigimos Ahora?”
"Danke schön” a todo voluntario
que apoyó nuestra reciente celebración de la Fiesta de nuestro
patrón San Enrique. Agradecemos especialmente a los Caballeros de Colon, el Concilio Parroquial, Grupo de Oración, Guadalupanos, equipo de Rifa de Troca,
la familia Ramírez y todos quienes dedicaron su tiempo y esfuerzos para hacer este día placentero en honor a este santo rey Bávaro del siglo 11.
Parte IV
¿Así que, que clase de edificio parroquial queremos? Como su pastor, mi responsabilidad es aprobar una identidad Católica. Así que el
edificio debe identificarse fácilmente por si mismo, por dentro y por
fuera como una iglesia Católica.
Los cimientos de la iglesia estarán a una altura de (4-5 pies mas altos
que los demás edificios), cerca de donde se encuentran actualmente
las “Cruces del Calvario” dando frente al sur.
Me gustaría enfatizar que la gente entrara por las puertas de enfrente. En este lado veo un área grande de entrada—las dos cubiertas y
descubiertas—que nos unan antes/después de Misa, quizás portales
de arcos por los dos lados, a la derecha e izquierda de la entrada
principal dirigiéndose a el área de estacionamiento. Tengo una idea
especial sobre la construcción de un puente que nos lleve del área de
la plaza actual entre la capilla y la oficina que se extiende hacia el
frente de la iglesia. También prefiero una torre de campanas, una galería para el coro, una cripta en el sótano para confesiones y oración
en silencio.
Si tiene curiosidad de saber que opino sobre la cualidad de una iglesia Católica, les sugiero que visiten St. Bernadette en Scottsdale.
