(English version)
Objectives
● By the end of this activity, the students will have learned the conjugation of the verb IR in the future tense,
they will know the difference between regular and irregular verbs, they will have used the verb IR in the
future tense to talk about ‘where they are going to go’ and ‘what they are going to do’ in the future, they will
have talked about places and future plans.
Activity Summary
By reviewing visual material and an authentic song in Spanish, students will learn the vocabulary about actions
and places to describe future actions and plans; they will also ask and answer about future plans. They will
create a video about their and their classmates’ future plans.
Time Allocation
45-55 minutes
Procedure
- Activity 1 – Regular and Irregular Verbs
a. Using the presentation Verbos Regulares e Irregulares Verbo Ir, the teacher explains the difference
between regular and irregular verbs, reviews the different verb endings in Spanish (-AR, -ER, -IR)
and shows the verb ir with its meaning, conjugation and examples.

Activity 2 – Expressing actions and places with the form ir + a + infinitive
a. Now, the teacher shows the presentation Ir + A + Infinitive to explain different actions using the form
Ir + a + infinitive.
b. The students listen and watch the video El verbo 'ir' con los verbos infinitivos - “Vivir Mi Vida" (con
letra y fotos) (https://youtu.be/qb9AZw3piTY). The teacher asks questions like: ¿Qué va a hacer
(Shakira)?, ¿Quién va a (reír)?, ¿Por qué va a (reír)?, etc.
c. Then, the students listen to the song Vivir la vida without watching the video and recognize the
different verbs to complete the Handout 1.

Activity 3 – Expressing future plans with ir + a + infinitive – Oral activity
d. Students will ask their classmates where are they going (dónde van a ir) and what are they going to
do (qué van a hacer) to complete the Handout 2 following the example.
e. Then, the students will use that information and their mobile devices to record a 30-60 seconds
video where they talk about their and their classmates’ future plans. They should include different
conjugations of the verb ir, as well as affirmative and negative forms. For example:
El fin de semana, voy a ir al cine (con mis amigos), voy a mirar una película, voy a comer pizza.
El fin de semana no voy a ir a la escuela. No voy a estudiar, etc.
Mi amigo (Mario) va a ir al parque, él va a jugar al fútbol. Él no va a estudiar, etc.

If the students can’t use their mobile devices, they should present in front of the class.
Suggested evaluation method
It is advisable to have a rubric to assess speaking activities in which it should be clear to students how to move
from one level to the next. A rubric indicating how a student is Meeting, Exceeding or not Meeting Expectations
is the most useful. The suggested “Speaking Production Rubric” can be used (Handout 3).
