This Week in LGE History
In 1992, we unloaded our first railcar of fly ash
for our first transload customer, Pozzolanic
Materials (now Headwaters Resources), at
the new Denver 88th Avenue yard. Hundreds
of thousands of tons and 25 years later, they
remain one of our most valued clients.

Enjoying Fall - Breathe in the Season
Fall officially started last week with the autumnal equinox on September 22, when day and
night were of equal duration. But the days have been getting shorter for a while, and for
most of us, fall unofficially started a while ago when the kids went back to school or when
the first football game was played or when the first leaves turned color.
Fall always feels short-lived, caught between the sizzling heat of summer and the bitter
cold of winter, but there is much to be done at work and at home before the flurries fly.
At work, the projects are slowing down, and we have time to reflect on this summer’s
demanding production schedule and start our plans for a more efficient and safer summer
next year. We also have time to prepare for winter with a final push on stockpile volumes
before we begin safe shut-down maintenance. Fall is a time to maintain our focus on
SAFE PRODUCTION and get through the rest of 2016 accident-free.
At home, there’s so much to enjoy now. Take
time to enjoy the beauty and festivities of the fall
season. Breathe in the fresh, crisp air. Feel the
warmth of the midday sun on your face. Enjoy
the smells: dry leaves, fires in fireplaces, pumpkin
pie, warm cider and cinnamon. Look around at
the all the gorgeous colors on the trees and fall
blooms like chrysanthemums and asters.

Fill up your weekends with all the season has to offer: Go to harvest and pumpkin
festivals, enjoy Bavarian tastes and style at the local Oktoberfest, laugh and be amazed at a
“punkin chunkin” contest. Then find your way through a corn maze or take a Sunday drive
(or train!) to do some “leaf peeping” and listen to an elk bugle to attract a mate. Attend
Halloween parades and parties, and watch lots of football. And don’t forget to rake some
leaves, then jump in!

Avenida de Denver. Cientos de miles de toneladas

Disfrutando de la Caída - Breathe en la Temporada
Caída comenzó oficialmente la semana pasada con el equinoccio de otoño el 22 de septiembre,
cuando el día y la noche son de igual duración. Pero los días han sido cada vez más cortos por
un tiempo, y para la mayoría de nosotros, caen extraoficialmente comenzado hace un tiempo
cuando los niños regresaron a la escuela o cuando el primer partido de fútbol se jugó o cuando las
primeras hojas se tornan de color.
Siempre se siente la caída de corta duración, atrapada entre el calor chisporroteo del verano y el
frío del invierno, pero hay mucho que hacer en el trabajo y en casa antes de las ráfagas vuelan.
En el trabajo, los proyectos se están desacelerando, y tenemos tiempo para reflexionar sobre el
programa de producción exigentes de este verano y empezar a nuestros planes para un próximo
año sea más eficiente y más seguro verano. También tenemos tiempo para prepararse para el
invierno con un empuje final sobre volúmenes de inventario antes de empezar un mantenimiento
seguro de apagado. El otoño es un tiempo para mantener nuestro enfoque en la PRODUCCIÓN
SEGURA y obtener a través del resto del 2016 sin accidentes.
En casa, hay tanto para disfrutar ahora. Tómese el
tiempo para disfrutar de la belleza y las festividades
de la temporada de otoño. Respirar el aire fresco,
fresco. Sentir el calor del sol de mediodía en su cara.
Disfrutar de los olores: hojas secas, fuego de las
chimeneas, pastel de calabaza, sidra caliente y canela.
Mire a su alrededor en los todos los magníficos
colores de los árboles y caen como flores de
crisantemos y áster.

Llenar sus fines de semana con toda la temporada tiene que ofrecer: Ir a cosechar y festivales
de calabaza, disfrutar de los gustos y estilo de Baviera en la Oktoberfest locales, reír y ser
sorprendido en un concurso “chunkin del punkin”. A continuación, encontrar su camino a través
de un laberinto de maíz o dar un paseo dominical (o el tren!) Para hacer un poco de “hoja de
espiar” y escuchar un corneta alces para atraer a su pareja. Asistir a los desfiles y las fiestas de
Halloween, y ver un montón de fútbol. Y no se olvide de rastrillo algunas hojas, y luego saltar en!
