Mighty Maverick Family,
We hope you are enjoying the beginning of summer! It was great to meet so many
families at our Welcome to IDEA event in May.
At IDEA Weslaco Pike we believe in strong partnerships with our families. With this
in mind, we would love to invite you all to our upcoming Welcome to IDEA Weslaco
Pike Picnic! It will take place July 26th from 10am-1pm. Since our building will be in
its final stages of completion, we will host our picnic at Weslaco City Park. This is a
great opportunity for you and your child to meet our teachers and familiarize
themselves with staff. Hope to see you there!
One of the most important things to think about over the summer is how to avoid the
“summer slide”—the learning that students lose from being out of school for so much
time. We encourage all our students to read books over this summer, and sixth grade
students must complete their summer readings. It will help students start off on the
right foot!
College Prep Principal
We are very excited to begin the road to college with you and your son/daughter! We
will be available throughout the summer, and should you have any questions, please
don’t hesitate to reach out to us either via e-mail or call/text.

Esta es una gran oportunidad para que usted y su hijo conozca a nuestros maestros y
familiarizarse con el personal de Weslaco Pike. ¡Esperamos verlos allí!
Una de las cosas más importantes en que pensar durante el verano es la forma de evitar el
"summer slide"-el aprendizaje que los estudiantes pierden de estar fuera de la escuela por
mucho tiempo. Animamos a todos nuestros estudiantes a leer libros sobre este verano, y los
estudiantes de sexto grado deben completar sus lecturas de verano. ¡Esto ayudará a los
estudiantes comienzan con el pie correcta!

Registration will be on July 17th for Kinder & 1st grade and July 18th for 2nd & 6th grade. It
will be located at the Knapp Medical Conference Center. Please be sure to bring in the
following information in order to properly register your child:








Last report card showing grade promotion
STAAR scores: 6th grade only
Student Birth Certificate
Student Social Security Card: if applicable
Immunization Records
Parent Identification
Contact information for Individuals authorized to pick up your child at school.
You will sign up for transportation & food services
Please bring your child to registration
so we may take their picture for their
school ID.
We will be contacting you to set up an
appointment time for registration.

Inscripción
La inscripción será el 17 de julio para Kínder y 1er grado y el 18 de julio para el segundo y
sexto grado. Se llevara a cabo en el Knapp Medical Conference Center. Por favor, asegúrese
de llevar la siguiente información con el fin de registrar correctamente su hijo:
 Última tarjeta de calificación mostrando promoción de grado
 Calificación de examen STAAR: Solamente el sexto grado
 Certificación de nacimiento
 Tarjeta de Seguro Social del estudiante: solo si le aplica a usted
 Prueba de vacunación
 Identificación de los padres
 La información de contacto para personas autorizadas de recoger a su hijo en la
escuela.
 Durante la registración, usted se inscribirá para los servicios de transporte y de
alimentos

Welcome Back BBQ
Parents, we will be hosting a “Welcome
Back” BBQ on Saturday July 26, 2014 at the
Weslaco City Park from 10 am – 1 pm. We
want to meet all our students and parents
who are a part of Mavericks Nation! Our
IDEA Weslaco Pike Team will be there
including our Principals, Teachers, and staff.
We hope you can make it!
Summer Reading Program
There will be a summer reading program hosted
by the Weslaco Public Library. Their kick-off
event will start June 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. Encourage
your children to continue reading during the
summer!

Padres, tendremos un "Bienvenidos de Nuevo"
