OPPORTUNITY ON COURT BASKETBALL
For all students! Come learn the
fundamentals of basketball with Drake
University students and other community
role model volunteers this winter!
If you have always wanted to play organized
basketball, but never had the chance, this is the
perfect opportunity for you. There is no cost to
participants, and you can simply show up!
Learn dribbling and passing technique, defensive
positioning, teamwork, shooting, and participate in
games. All students in first through sixth grades are
welcome! Practices start Sunday, Jan. 31, in the
Crestview School of Inquiry Gymnasium.
Thursday practices 5:30–6:30 p.m., and Sunday
practices are 1–3 p.m. Equipment and snacks will
be provided! Please bring a basketball and water
bottle, if you have them on hand.

Crestview has already collected
$1,200 in box tops this year! Don’t
forget to keep collecting box tops
to help our school earn money for
field trips and student supplies!

CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR
VISITS CRESTVIEW
Tim Smith, children's book author from
Traverse City, Michigan, spends much
of the school year speaking to
elementary-aged children. He will be at
Crestview on Monday, Feb. 22, giving
presentations on his "Buck Wilder"
outdoor guides. In his storytelling style,
Smith is known to entertain as he
educates his audience. During his
presentations, he explains the value of hard work and
persistence while also emphasizing to children the
importance of imagination and creativity. "Creating and
publishing books was new for me. I made mistakes, kept
on working at it even with major obstacles in my way, and
did more than was expected to finish the books." says
Smith. He also stresses the importance of believing in
yourself and humorously shows kids how they can get
creative.
HEART CONNECTION COLLECTION
WDMCS staff, families, and students are invited again this
year to participate in the Heart Connection to help restock
the Booster Pak personal care pantries.
The most needed items are regular-sized shampoo and
conditioner, deodorant, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, and
lip balm. Please bring your items to school the week of Feb.
22-25 and place in the Heart Connection donation box.
Items will be collected and then distributed to WDMCS
students through the Booster Pak Program.
Thank you for your support for this very worthy cause! The
Heart Connection is coordinated by WDMCS Community
Education’s Service Learning Program.

Para todos los estudiantes! Ven a
aprender los fundamentos del
baloncesto con estudiantes de la
Universidad de Drake y otros voluntarios
de la comunidad modelo a seguir este invierno!
AUTOR DE LIBROS PARA NIÑOS VISITA CRESTVIEW
Tim Smith, autor de libros para niños
de Traverse City, Michigan, pasa la
mayor parte del año escolar de hablar
con los niños en edad primaria. Él
estará en Crestview el lunes, 22 de
febrero, dando presentaciones sobre
sus "Buck Wilder" guías al aire libre. En
su estilo narrativo, Smith es conocido
para entretener mientras se educa a su
audiencia. Durante sus presentaciones, que explica el
valor del trabajo duro y la persistencia y al mismo tiempo
haciendo hincapié a los niños la importancia de la
imaginación y la creatividad. "Creación y edición de libros
era nuevo para mí. Cometí errores, seguido trabajando en
ello, incluso con los principales obstáculos en mi camino,
y lo hizo más de lo esperado para finalizar los libros." dice
Smith. También hace hincapié en la importancia de creer
en uno mismo y con humor muestra a los niños cómo se
puede ser creativo.
Si siempre has querido jugar al baloncesto
organizado, pero nunca tuvo la oportunidad, esta
es la oportunidad perfecta para usted. No hay
ningún costo para los participantes, y se puede
simplemente aparecer!
Aprender a conducir ya que pasa técnica,
posicionamiento defensivo, trabajo en equipo, tiro,
y participar en los juegos. Todos los estudiantes de
primero a sexto grados son bienvenidos! Prácticas
de principio Domingo, 31 de enero, en la Escuela
de Investigación Crestview gimnasio.
Jueves prácticas 5: 30-6: 30 pm, y los domingos
son prácticas 1-3 Equipo pm y se proporcionarán
bocadillos! Por favor traiga una botella de
baloncesto y el agua, si los tiene a la mano.

tapas de cajas de este año! No se olvide
de mantener la recogida de tapas de
cajas para ayudar a nuestra escuela a ganar dinero
para viajes de estudio y estudiante fuentes! El último
día para presentar las tapas de cajas es el 1 de abril

COLECCIÓN DE CONEXIÓNES DE CORAZÓN
WDMCS personal, las familias y los estudiantes son
invitados de nuevo este año para participar en la conexión
del corazón para ayudar a reponer las despensas para el
cuidado personal de refuerzo Pak.
Los artículos más necesarios son el champú de tamaño
regular y acondicionador, desodorante, gel de baño, loción,
pasta de dientes, y bálsamo labial. Favor de traer sus
artículos a la escuela la semana de Feb. de 22-25 y colocar
en la caja de donaciones de conexión del corazón. Los
artículos serán recogidos y luego distribuidos a WDMCS los
estudiantes a través del Programa Pak Booster.
