PREPARACIÓN BAUTISMO:
Las clases para Bautismo serán en miércoles a las 6:00 pm en St.
Nicholas Hall con una duración de una hora y media. Todos los
padres y los padrinos tendrán que asistir a dos clases Si los padrinos
son pareja deben estar casados por la iglesia y ser Católicos
practicantes. Si los padrinos son solteros deben practicar su fe. El
trabajo de los padrinos es ayudar a los padres a guiar el niño en la fe

JORNADA MUNDIAL DE LA JUVENTUD
Jornada Mundial de la Juventud; es una reunión con el Papa y con los
jóvenes (Católicos) de todo el mundo, y pasa cada tres años. La próxima es
Agosto 2011 en Madrid. Es a esta que vamos a ver si podemos arreglar un
viaje. Si tienes 18 años o más y tienes deseos de ir déjale saber al Padre

El hecho de que la Santísima Virgen lleve
el nombre de María es el motivo de esta
festividad, instituida con el objeto de que
los fieles encomienden a Dios, a través de
la intercesión de la Santa Madre, las
necesidades de la iglesia, le den gracias
por su omnipotente protección y sus
innumerables beneficios, en especial los
que reciben por las gracias y la mediación
de la Virgen María. Por primera vez, se
autorizó la celebración de esta fiesta en
1513, en la ciudad española de Cuenca;
desde ahí se extendió por toda España y
en 1683, el Papa Inocencio XI la admitió
en la iglesia de occidente como una
acción de gracias por el levantamiento del
sitio a Viena y la derrota de los turcos por
las fuerzas de Juan Sobieski, rey de
Polonia

EL PADRE INDULGENTE

En los tiempos de Jesús el hijo primogénito
heredaba las dos terceras partes de las propiedades de su
padre; los hijos menores se quedaban con la porción
restante. El hijo menor en el evangelio de hoy no puede
esperar, exige su parte y se va. El dinero se acaba pronto y
no le queda otra alternativa que cuidar de los cerdos.
Regresa a casa con la intención de confesar su culpa y
pedir que se le trate como un siervo y no como hijo. Sin
embargo, el padre sale a su encuentro con la mejor ropa y
ordena que se ofrezca un banquete. El hijo mayor
reacciona hostilmente, aunque ya tiene garantizado el
amor de su padre y una buena herencia. El padre sabe
cómo perdonar y olvidar pero, tristemente, el hijo mayor
desconoce ambas cosas. Lo que hizo el hijo no tiene
importancia comparado con quién es el hijo: el hijo amado.
Esta historia nos invita a considerar si actuamos como el
hijo menor o como el mayor, y si nos esforzamos en actuar
como Dios actúa con nosotros, esto es, como un padre
indulgente.

TWENTY FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
ST. JOSEPH GOSPEL CHOIR
FAMILY CONNECTION
The St. Joseph Gospel Choir will make
its debut on Saturday, September 18 at
the 5:00pm Mass. Please come out and
witness a joyful noise unto the Lord in
song. The choir will sing every 3rd
Saturday at the 5:00pm Mass.

Read or retell in your own word, the three stories from the
Gospel. Ask your children to recall games they play that
involve losing or hiding something and then finding it
(Hide and Go Seek, Ghost in the Graveyard, Button,
Button, Who’s Got the Button?). Talk about how exciting it
is to find the person or thing being looked for. Ask your
children if they have any memories of losing something
special or being lost themselves. Share the stories as well
as the fears or feelings. Then tell them that just as you
would go to any length to find and bring them home if
they were lost, so too would God. That is what Jesus is
telling us in the three stories. No matter what we do, no
matter how wrong we are, God, our loving father, is
always anxious to forgive us and welcome us back home.
COMING IN OCTOBER: Holy Rosary Month
October is the month of the Holy Rosary and
we will be having Rosary and Benediction on
Mondays at 6:00pm (so as not to conflict with
RCIA at 7:00pm). The First Monday, October
4, is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and we
will pray a Franciscan Rosary in his honor.
October is Respect Life Month so we will
pray the Rosary for Life on the Second
Monday. On the Third Monday it will be a Scriptural
Rosary. On the Fourth Monday we will conclude with a
traditional Rosary that we all are familiar with. There will
be Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
with each Rosary.

INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY
There will be a Coffee at St. Mary on the Hill Social Hall,
1420 Monte Sano Avenue Augusta to introduce the
International Ministry, Magnificat a Ministry to Catholic
Women. It will be held on Saturday, October 2 from
10:30am to 12:30pm. The guest speaker will be Olga Myers
from Dunwoody, GA. She is Magnificat’s South Eastern
Regional Representative and foundress of Magnificat’s
Joyful Visitation Chapter in Atlanta, GA. Since the Coffee
is designed to speak to the hearts of women, free of
distractions, it is respectfully requested that young
children not be in attendance. All women 18 years of age

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
will resume on September 12th
during the 11:00am Mass This
means that the children between
the ages of 4 and 10 will go with
their leaders to the Day Chapel to
hear the Liturgy of the Word on their level. The purpose of
adapting the liturgy is to gradually lead the children to
participate more consciously and actively in the Sunday

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
The RCIA process will begin on Monday,
September 13th at St. Nicholas Hall at
7:00pm. The first period is known as the
Inquiry Stage – a ‘come and see’ time –
when seekers can ask whatever questions
they may have about our Church, Christianity, etc. It is a
personal faith journey so it is a time for the whole parish
to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit on those who
have signed-up for this process. To attend these sessions
