World Mission Sunday
This weekend is World Mission Sunday. In
Scripture, St. Paul asked the Gentile Churches to
take up a collection to support the Church in
Jerusalem. Now we are asked to reach out and
support the young churches throughout our world.
Your prayers and generous gifts to the Society for
the Propagation of the Faith in this weekend's
collection will help missionaries offer the poor of
these areas practical help as they share the mercy of
God. It will ensure the development of local
diocese, and support the work of priests, religious,
and lay leaders who serve those on the margins and
in most need.
2016 Mass Intentions
Parish Mass Intentions for 2016 may be
scheduled at the parish office beginning this coming
Tuesday October 20th. As an initial way to enable
those who wish to schedule intentions at parish
Masses; the initial limit will be 12 scheduled Masses
per family. The offering is $15.00.
All Souls Masses
The month of November is traditionally a
time to remember and to pray for our beloved dead.
Beginning on Monday November 2nd and continuing
through November 10th, a novena of Masses will be
offered for the faithful departed. Please make use of
the specially marked envelopes that are available in
the Church and return them in the parish collection
or at the office prior to November 2nd.
Gate of Heaven Cemetery Bus Trip
St. Joseph Council Knights of Columbus is
having their annual bus trip to Gate of Heaven
Cemetery on Sunday November 1st sponsored by
Riverdale Funeral Home. After a pick-up at Good
Shepherd Church, the bus will be stopping outside
St. John-Visitation Church at 11:15 am. Tickets are
$10 person. For reservations, please call Jim Nolan

Social Action Committee
Inspired by Pope Francis' visit to the United
States and his focus on many social concerns, SAC Social Action Committee, invites parishioners to join
us Sunday October 18 at 12:45 pm in the St. JohnVisitation Parish Pastoral Center (corner of 230th St.
and Corlear Ave).
Our goal is to educate our community, and
promote the social teachings of the Church through
reflection and action. In this meeting we hope to
decide collaboratively on one or two areas for focus.
Some examples include: immigrant rights, the
environment, homelessness and income inequality.
Please join us for coffee and light
refreshments on Sunday October 18. Translation will
be provided. You can also tell us you are interested
by putting your name and contact information in an
email to StJohnVisitationSAC@gmail.com. We are
looking forward to meeting and planning with you.
Youth Group
Youth (Grade 8/13 years of age and older)
are invited to attend the Friday gatherings from
7:00-9:00 pm in The St. John-Visitation Parish
Pastoral Center. These meetings offer fun activities
along with ways to meet people, make new friends,
and growing in the ways of the Catholic faith as
teenagers.

Items for consideration to be included in our
parish bulletin need to be submitted no later than
the Monday morning prior to the desired weekend.

Knights of Columbus
St. Joseph Council #443 Knights of Columbus
invite men 18 years of age or older to join us. They
meet monthly on the third Tuesday evening. The
upcoming meetings will be on October 20th at 7:30
pm at Good Shepherd Parish (Isham Street) and
November 17th at the St. John-Visitation Parish
Pastoral Center.

membership in the Knights of Columbus, please

Also, next weekend (October 24-25) the
Knights of Columbus will be outside the church after
all the parish Masses to sell raffle tickets to support
their various charitable causes.

Jornada Misionera Mundial
Este fin de semana es la Jornada Misionera
Mundial. En la Escritura, St. Paul le pidió a las

a la Iglesia en Jerusalén. Ahora se nos pide para
llegar y apoyar a las iglesias jóvenes en todo el
mundo. Sus oraciones y generosos regalos a la

misioneros ofrecer a los pobres de estas zonas
ayuda práctica, ya que comparten la misericordia de

Intenciones de las Misas para el 2016
Intenciones para las Misas Parroquial en el
2016 se pueden programar en la oficina parroquial a
partir de este próximo martes 20 de octubre. Como
una forma inicial para permitir que aquellos que
deseen programar intenciones en las misas de la
parroquia, el límite inicial será de 12 misas
programadas por familia. La oferta es de $ 15.00.
Misas para Todas las Almas
El mes de noviembre es tradicionalmente un
tiempo para recordar y orar por nuestros difuntos. A
partir del lunes 02 de noviembre y hasta el 10 de
noviembre, una novena de misas será ofrecida por
los fieles difuntos. Por favor haga uso de los sobres
especialmente marcados que están disponibles en la
Iglesia y los devuelven en la colección de la
parroquia o en la oficina antes del 02 de noviembre.
Viaje en autobús para el Cementerio Puerta del Cielo
St. Joseph Caballeros del Consejo de Colón
está teniendo su viaje en autobús anual al
cementerio Puerta del Cielo el domingo 1 de
noviembre patrocinado por Riverdale Funeral
Home. Después de un pick-up en la iglesia de Good
Shepherd, el autobús estará fuera de la Iglesia San

Grupo de Jóvenes
Jóvenes (Grado 8/13 años de edad y
mayores) están invitados a asistir a las reuniones de
los viernes de 7: 00-9: 00 pm en el Centro Pastoral
de la Parroquia. Estas reuniones ofrecen actividades
divertidas junto con las formas de conocer gente,
hacer nuevos amigos, y crecer en los caminos de la
fe católica en la adolescencia.
