2nd Sunday of Easter - C
Why do we have to speak out, reach out, and live out our Catholic faith?
Recent studies reported that of all Christian denominations,
Catholics are least likely to share our faith with others despite having the
same requirement to “make disciples of all the nations.” Why not try
these ideas to speak out, reach out, and live out the Good News of our
Catholic faith:
Talk about love. For someone who hasn’t experienced God or
who has become inactive in her faith, hearing how you have personally
experienced God’s love can be powerful. Don’t hesitate to share how
God has blessed you when you sense someone is ready to listen.
Brush up on Catholic terms and positions. When asked or
when you sense there is confusion, be ready to explain the meaning of
such terms as “Sacrament” or “Communion” or the Church’s position
on social issues. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a reliable
reference, or you can refer to the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ website:
www.usccb.org/issues-and-action.
Support parish ministries. During parish fund raising and
drives, collect food and clothing from neighbors, co-workers, and relatives. Those are prime opportunities to talk about the Catholic dedication to serving the poor and hungry and our own parish.
Use social media. Whichever platform you choose, tweet an
inspiration from the Bible, post your favorite devotion, pin a picture of
your patron saint, or update the latest way God has worked in your life.
No door knocking is required. God bless you Fr. Alex
Gospel: John 20: 19-31
John's account of that first Easter night is filled with drama.
Jesus appears through locked doors and gives his disciples his
peace. He gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit and communicates God's power of forgiveness. Thomas, who misses out on
this experience of Jesus, refuses to believe unless he can touch Jesus'
wounds. A week later he has a chance to do just that! Thomas exclaims,
"My Lord and my God!" And Jesus tells us how "blest" are we who have
believed in his resurrection without having seen his risen body.
1.) Thomas is remembered in the Church as "doubting Thomas." Yet,
Jesus respected his doubts, and answered them in a beautiful way. Thomas did not keep his doubts to himself. He shared them with the community and with Jesus. What can you do when you have a doubt or a
question about something?

¿Por qué tenemos que proclamar, compartir y vivir nuestra fe católica?
Recientes estudios han demostrado que de todas las denominaciones cristianas, los católicos somos los menos propensos a compartir nuestra
fe con los demás a pesar de tener el mismo mandato de "hacer discípulos a
todas las naciones." ¿Por qué no probar estas ideas al proclamar, compartir y
vivir la Buena Nueva de nuestra fe católica:
Habla sobre el amor: Para alguien que no ha experimentado a Dios
o que ha dejado de estar activo en su fe, escucharte hablar de cómo has experimentado personalmente el amor de Dios puede llegar muy lejos.. No dudes
en compartir cómo Dios te ha bendecido cuando sientes que alguien está
dispuesto a escucharte.
Repasa los términos y las posiciones de la iglesia Católica: Cuando
te pregunten ó cuando sientas que hay confusión, debes de estar dispuesto a
explicar el significado de términos tales como "Sacramento" o "Comunión" o la
posición de la Iglesia acerca de temas sociales. Puedes usar el Catecismo de la
Iglesia Católica o la página web de la Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de los
Estados Unidos- www.usccb.org/issues-and-action como referencia.
Apoya a los ministerios parroquiales: Colabora durante la recaudación de fondos de la parroquia y otros eventos, recoge comida y ropa de los

Evangelio: Juan 20: 19-31
El recuento de Juan de la primera noche de pascua está
lleno de drama. Jesús aparece y da la paz a los discípulos
que estaban en un cuarto cerrado. Les da el don del
Espíritu Santo y les comunica el poder de Dios de perdonar. Tomás, quien no está presente en esta experiencia, se niega a
creer a menos que toque las heridas de Jesús. Una semana más tarde
tiene la oportunidad de hacerlo. Tomás exclama: "Señor mío y Dios
mío". Y Jesús dice lo bendito que somos lo que creemos en su resurrección sin haber visto su cuerpo resucitado.

"Señor mío y Dios mío". Reza esta oración la próxima vez que recibas la
comunión. Recuerda que tu Señor y Dios está contigo. ¿De qué otras

in May we will pray the rosary and offer
flowers to our Blessed Mother Mary.

TRADICIONES
DE NUESTRA FE:
La Iglesia católica es universal, extendida en
diversas naciones y culturas. A través de los
siglos estas culturas han enriquecido la Tradición de la Iglesia con muchas tradiciones y
devociones que van más allá de su cultura de
origen. La fiesta de la Divina Misericordia es
un buen ejemplo. Viene de una devoción que
nació en Polonia con la Hermana Faustina
Kowalska (1905-1938) canonizada en el
2000. La devoción a la Divina Misericordia
se celebra el Segundo Domingo de Pascua y
durante todo el año orando la Coronilla de la
Divina Misericordia. En latinoamérica se ha
ido extendiendo esta devoción desde 1978
cuando fue aprobada por el Papa Paulo VI. En
todas partes se puede encontrar la imagen de
la Divina Misericordia, Jesús de pie con rayos
rojos y blanco-azules que brillan desde su
corazón hacia el mundo. Lleva el lema: Jesús,
confío en ti.
La finalidad de esta devoción es recordar al
pecador que la misericordia de Dios es infinita
e inagotable. Es una misericordia que debemos imitar para que la paz pueda reinar en
nuestros corazones y en nuestra tierra. —Fray
