START NOW
• Know the closest shelters and transport sites.
• Special Needs: If you have special medical needs, REGISTER NOW.
Call your local fire department or Pinellas County Emergency Management at (727) 464-3800,
or go online to: www.pinellascounty.org/emergency/Local.htm.
BEFORE THE STORM (48 to 12 hours prior)
• Notification: Watch the local media for updates on the storm. Look for notices at soup kitchens,
shelters and drop-in centers.
• DO NOT WAIT! When notice to evacuate is given, go immediately to a shelter or transport site.
EVACUATION
• Buses: Free transportation will be provided to homeless-friendly shelters. A wheelchair accessible
bus will be provided to those in need of this service.
• Once you arrive at the shelter, stay at the shelter until you are told it is safe to leave.
AFTER THE STORM
• Return Buses: You will get free transportation to return to the starting pick-up sites.

• Notice about open homeless-friendly shelters will be posted. Check listings before going to a
shelter.
• You may also go to any open hurricane shelter. For a list of all open shelters, watch the local
media or go online to the Pinellas County Emergency Management website at:

ANTES DE LA TORMENTA (De 48 a 12 horas antes)

• Los Autobuses: Se le brinda transportación gratis hasta los refugios mas apropiados a las
personas sin hogar. También hay un autobús accesible para sillas de ruedas.
• En el Refugio: Quédese en el refugio hasta que escuche el aviso oficial que le informe
que está seguro salir.
