Support Services for the Hispanic Community; Prevention of Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence Consultant; Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
Services Offered:
1. Workshops for clergy/laity and/or parishioners:
Workshops focus on education, raising awareness on the problem, understanding the
dynamics of domestic violence, definition, types of domestic violence, and how to
respond.
The workshop focuses on educating individuals on the Catholic Church’s position on
domestic violence using the U.S Bishops document titled, “When I Call for Help: A
Pastoral Response to Domestic Violence” (2002; http://usccb.org/laity/help.shtml),
educating individuals on the definition of domestic violence and types of domestic
violence, learning how to respond to these types of incidences, coordinating responses
with social service agencies and the criminal justice system in communities, exploring
ways to prevent domestic violence, and understanding how the Catholic Church serves as
a support to Hispanic families with issues related to domestic violence (The Catholic
Church as a Support to Immigrant Mexican Women Living with Domestic Violence,
Journal of Social Work and Christianity, Marrs-Fuchsel, 2010, Under Review).
2. Consultation for clergy/laity and/or parishioners with issues related to domestic
violence.

3. Support group for women to learn preventive measures against domestic violence using
the domestic violence prevention model (Immigrant Mexican Women and Domestic
Violence: Developing a Prevention Model, Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in
Social Work, Marrs-Fuchsel, 2010, Under Review).
Available dates to provide services:

Los servicios que se ofrecen:
1. Talleres para el clero/laicado y/o parroquianos
Los talleres se centran en la educación, levantando el conocimiento en el problema,
comprendiendo la dinámica de violencia doméstica, la definición, los tipos de violencia
doméstica, y cómo responder.

El taller se centra en educar a individuos en la posición de la Iglesia Católica en violencia
doméstica que utiliza los U. Obispos en el documento, "Cuando Pido Ayuda: Una Respuesta
Pastoral a la Violencia Doméstica" (2002; http://usccb.org/laity/helpsp.shtml), educando a
individuos en la definición de violencia y tipos domésticos de violencia doméstica, aprendiendo
cómo responder a estos tipos de incidencias, coordinando respuestas con agencias sociales de
servicio y el sistema penal en comunidades, explorando maneras de prevenir violencia
doméstica, y comprendiendo cómo la Iglesia Católica sirve como un apoyo a familias hispanas
con asuntos relacionados a la violencia doméstica (La Iglesia Católica como Un Apoyo a
Mujeres mexicanas Inmigrantes que Viven con Violencia Doméstica, El diario del Diario de
Asistencia Social y Cristiandad

2. Consulta para el clero/laicado y/o parroquianos con asuntos relacionados a la violencia
doméstica.
3. Grupo de apoyo para mujeres para aprender medidas preventivas contra violencia doméstica
que utiliza el modelo doméstico de prevención de violencia (Mujeres mexicanas Inmigrantes y
Violencia Doméstica: Desarrollar un Modelo de Prevención, El diario del Diario de Diversidad
Etnica y Cultural en la Asistencia Social
