This pilot project is designed to implement community-based projects that seek to enhance the resiliency of communities, and/or the ecosystems on which they rely, to climate change impacts. It will essentially create small-scale ‘project/policy laboratories’ and generate knowledge about how to achieve adaptation at the local level. Ten participating countries (Bangladesh, Bolivia, Guatemala, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Samoa, and Vietnam) will each develop, plan and implement a portfolio of 8-20 community-level adaptation projects. In order to ensure cost-effectiveness, projects will be implemented in areas that are particularly vulnerable to climate change including variability, and where there is high potential to secure global environmental benefits in the context of climate change. Lessons learned from community projects will then be leveraged to promote replication of successful community practices, and integration of lessons learned into policies that promote increased community adaptive capacity. This project will assist in responding to GEF’s internal needs for concrete experience with local-scale climate change adaptation, as well as the growing needs of countries for ground-level experience and clear policy lessons. The objective of the CBA programme is to enhance the capacity of communities in the pilot countries to adapt to climate change including variability. II. Under the Strategic Priority for Adaptation OBJETIVO GENERAL: Projects will be community-driven and nationally strategic - aligned with country programme strategies on key climate change adaptation priorities Taking a natural resources management approach, the CBA project will build resilience to climate impacts into resource-based livelihoods while generating global environmental benefits in GEF focal areas Projects will be nationally strategic and globally relevant, leveraging lessons learned from community projects to inform national policy dialogues, while sharing best practices globally OBJETIVOS ESPECÍFICOS Objetivo nº 1: Enhanced adaptive capacity which allows communities to reduce their vulnerability to adverse impacts of future climate hazards METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 2: National policies and programmes designed that include community adaptation priorities to promote replication, up-scaling and mainstreaming of best practices derived from CBA projects METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 3: Cooperation among member countries promoted for innovation in the design and implementation of adaptation to climate change including variability projects and policies METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 4: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 5: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 6: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 7: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: Objetivo nº 8: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: FICHA PROYECTOS PÁGINA 2 RED IBEROMERICANA DE OFICINAS DE CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO TALLER EN EL ÁMBITO DE LA RIOCC SOBRE “EVALUACIÓN DE PROYECTOS DE IMPACTOS, VUNERABILIDAD Y MEDIDAS DE ADAPTACIÓN AL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO” Objetivo nº 9: METODOLOGÍA: RESULTADOS ESPERADOS / OBTENIDOS: ART.6 CONVENCIÓN: EDUCACIÓN, FORMACIÓN Y SENSIBILIZACIÓN DEL PÚBLICO.
