The Family of military person JAIME D. MARTINEZ thanks everyone

ST. LAWRENCE, Deacon & Martyr (d.258) – AUGUST 10
We know little about Lawrence, who martyred four days after Sixtus II
and six other deacons during the persecution under the emperor Valerian.
According to tradition, when asked to surrender the Church’s riches,
Lawrence gathered the poor and said they were the Church’s real
treasure. For this affront, he was put to death. He was the most venerated
Roman martyr of the early Church and is a patron of Rome. He is
mentioned in Eucharistic Prayer I. May we imitate his willingness to
speak the truth to authorities whose policies may bring death, not life.
SAN LORENZO, diácono y mártir (d.258) – 10 de agosto
Sabemos poco sobre Lorenzo, que martirio cuatro días después de Sixto
II y los otros seis diáconos durante la persecución bajo el emperador
Valeriano. Según la tradición, cuando se le preguntó a entregar riquezas
de la iglesia, Lorenzo reunió a los pobres y dijo que eran el verdadero

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 15
This summer holy day celebrates the fact that Mary after her life on earth
was completed was taken to heaven body and soul. No one claims to
have the bones of the Blessed Virgin, and with good reason. She did not
suffer the decay of the grave but was taken to the Lord in her total being,
not merely in her soul. Happy Feast Day! May we rejoice in Our Lady’s
blessings!
La Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María - 15 de Agosto
Este verano santo día celebra el hecho de que María después de que
terminó su vida en la tierra fue tomada al cielo en cuerpo y alma. Nadie
dice que tiene los huesos de la Santísima Virgen y con razón. Ella no
sufrió el decaimiento de la tumba pero fue tomada al Señor en su ser
total, no sólo en su alma. Feliz fiesta! Regocijamos en las bendiciones de
