 There are many kinds of Christians. There are the Christians who merely
make use of the Church. There are those who are Christians in name
only. There are the opportunists. And then there are those “honorary
Christians” looking for status in society. However, the Lord accepts only
those who are one hundred percent Christian, those who accept him
unconditionally and have “left everything, and followed him” (Luke
5:11).
 Naturally, no Christian sets out to betray the Church simply for the sake of betraying it. However, many are
often led to do so when they experience one of three things:
1) financial or emotional problems
2) thwarted ambitions
3) threat of suffering or death
 During the last two thousand years, the Church has been betrayed by apostles, popes, cardinals, bishops,
priests, religious, and lay people—sometimes in small things, sometimes in the extraordinary “selfdestruction” deplored by Pope Paul VI. Nevertheless, after each of these upheavals, the Church has renewed
itself and attained greater brilliance and strength. This is because the Church continues to live the mystery of
the passion and resurrection.
 There do exist within the Church today many imperfections and all too many bad examples. Nevertheless,
the Church does enjoy God’s promise of endurance and is thus a continuous miracle. However, this does not
give you a license to expose all the faults for all to see whenever it suits you.
 Be ready to sacrifice for the Church and through the Church.
 “He who hears you, hears me, and he who rejects you, rejects me, and he who rejects me, rejects him who
sent me” (Luke 10:16). Throughout your life, always keep this counsel impressed firmly on your heart.
Respect those who represent the Church and who administer its Sacraments and Magisterium. God will
bless you for this.




EL CAMINO DE LA ESPERANZA
Hay varios tipos de católicos: hay católicos que se sirven de la Iglesia, el católico de nombre, el católico
oportunista y el católico honorario que busca sólo un estatus social; pero el Señor sólo considera al que es
católico al ciento por ciento, aquellos que lo aceptan incondicionalmente. “Entonces llevaron las barcas a
tierra, lo dejaron todo y se fueron con Jesús” (Lc 5, 11).
Naturalmente, ninguno traiciona a la Iglesia sólo por traicionarla, pero frecuentemente algunos son
conducidos por las circunstancias a comportarse de ese modo. Casi siempre, las personas son inducidas a
traicionar a la Iglesia por alguna de estas circunstancias:
1. cuando estan angustiadas por problemas económicos o sentimentales;
2. cuando sus ambiciones son contrastadas;
3. cuando son amenazados con cualquier tipo de sufrimiento o con la misma muerte.
En los últimos dos mil años, la Iglesia ha sido traicionada por apóstoles, papas, cardenales, obispos,
sacerdotes, religiosos y laicos; es lo que el papa Pablo VI ha definido como autodestrucción. A pesar de
todo, la Iglesia ha conseguido renovarse y ha llegado a ser más resplandeciente, más joven, más fuerte; en
ella, en efecto, se continúa el misterio de la pasión y de la resurrección.
Hay siempre en el seno de la Iglesia imperfecciones y malos ejemplos, pero goza de la promesa de Dios. La
Iglesia es un milagro continuo. Dicho esto, no es necesario dar cuenta de los errores y malos ejemplos, ni
tampoco es necesario que tú des mal ejemplo por tu comodidad, obligando a Dios a cumplir un milagro cada
día.
 Se decidido a sacrificarte por la Iglesia y a causa de la Iglesia.
 “El que los escucha a ustedes, me escucha a mí; y el que los rechaza a
ustedes, me rechaza a mí; y el que me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me
envió” (Lc 10, 16). Durante toda tu vida ten impresa esta advertencia:
respeta siempre a las personas que representan a la Iglesia, los
sacramentos, las enseñanzas de la Iglesia, su liturgia y Dios te
bendecirá.
