Why the liturgy is important?
Celebrate as a community of faith makes us becoming the Body of
Christ. At the same time, we are united with the universal church,
which rise up her voice to God in unison voice. This particular way to
celebrate has to be the same here and everywhere church celebrated
the Catechism of the Church says, “Liturgy is centered on the great
mystery, who is Holy Trinity. At every liturgy the action of worship is
directed to Our Father, from whom all blessings come, through the
Son in the unity of the Holy Spirit. We praise the Father who first
called us to be his people by sending us his Son as our Redeemer and
giving us the Holy Spirit so that we can continue to gather, to
remember what God has done for us, and to share in the blessings of
salvation.
Through the liturgical celebrations of the Church, we participate in
the Paschal Mystery of Christ, that is, his passing through death from
this life into eternal glory, just as God allowed the people of ancient
Israel to pass from slavery to freedom through the events narrated in
the Book of Exodus (cf. Ex 11-13). The liturgies of the Church also
help to teach us about Jesus Christ and the meaning of the mysteries
we are celebrating.
A mystery is a reality that is both visible and hidden. Jesus Christ’s
death and Resurrection become present to us and effective for us in the
liturgical life of the Church. His death and Resurrection are hidden
now in the eternity of God, but as Risen Lord and Head of the Church,
Jesus Christ calls us to share in them through the liturgy of the Church,
that is, by the visible gathering of the community for worship and
remembrance of what God has done for us. It is the Holy Spirit, the
source of the Church’s life, who draws us together through liturgical
actions, the chief of which are the Sacraments. The term liturgy itself
has a broader application than that of Sacrament, for it embraces all
the official public prayer life of the Church, while the term Sacrament
refers to a particular celebration of Christ’s salvific work. Liturgy is
important for us as community of faith, every liturgical action
introduces us to the mystery, likewise shaped us as brothers and sisters
of the same Father. Unites us in one baptism, one Lord and Father.

RCIA
The Precepts of the Church are set in the context of the moral life bound to
and nourished by the liturgical life (CCC 2041). These precepts are
positive ecclesiastical laws whose purpose is to “guarantee to the faithful
an indispensable minimum in the spirit of prayer and moral effort” and are
in no way to be seen as exhausting the Christian life. The First Precept:
You shall attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. The
Second Precept: You shall confess your sins at least once a year and it is
usually done during Lent in preparation for Easter. The Third Precept:
You shall humbly receive our Lord in Holy Communion at least during the
Easter Season (“Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His
blood, you have no life in you”). The Fourth Precept: You shall observe
the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church. The Fifth
Precept: You shall help provide for the needs of the Church.

Adult Faith Formation
On Saturday, July 16 the Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel, the patroness of the Carmelite Order. Mt. Carmel, near the
modern port city of Haifa, Israel, is not far from where Christ grew up.
This had been a holy mountain long before the birth of Our Lord and by
the twelfth century it had become a home to Carmelite monastics with a
particular devotion to the Virgin Mary as their patroness. It was in
England in the thirteenth century that one Carmelite, St. Simon Stock, is
said to have received the Brown Scapular from Our Lady. For over four
hundred years the wearing of the Brown Scapular was popular among the
Catholic faithful. However, the spread of the devotion with its extravagant
claims are difficult to reconcile with sound Christian Doctrine. St. John of
the Cross said, “Strive to preserve your heart in peace; let no event of this
world disturb it; reflect that all must come to an end.” This sacramental,
along with others, are now finding a resurgence of popularity, especially
among young Catholics.
¿Por qué la liturgia es importante?
Celebrar como una comunidad de fe que nos hace convertirse en el
Cuerpo de Cristo. Al mismo tiempo, estamos unidos con la iglesia
universal, que se han levantado su voz de Dios en la voz al unísono.
Esta forma particular de celebrar tiene que ser lo mismo aquí y en
todas partes iglesia celebró el Catecismo de la Iglesia dice, "Liturgia

A través de las celebraciones litúrgicas de la Iglesia, participamos en
el misterio pascual de Cristo, es decir, su paso por la muerte de esta
vida a la gloria eterna, al igual que Dios permitió que el pueblo del
antiguo Israel para pasar de la esclavitud a la libertad a través de los
acontecimientos narrados en el libro del Éxodo (Ex 11-13). Las
liturgias de la Iglesia también ayudan a enseñarnos acerca de
Jesucristo y el significado de los misterios que estamos celebrando.
Un misterio es una realidad que es a la vez visible y oculto. la muerte
y la resurrección de Jesucristo se hacen presentes a nosotros y eficaz
para nosotros en la vida litúrgica de la Iglesia. Su muerte y
resurrección se ocultan ahora en la eternidad de Dios, sino como
resucitado Señor y Cabeza de la Iglesia, Jesucristo nos llama a
participar en ellos a través de la liturgia de la Iglesia, es decir, por la
reunión visible de la comunidad para el culto y el recuerdo de lo que
Dios ha hecho por nosotros. Es el Espíritu Santo, la fuente de la vida
de la Iglesia, que nos une a través de acciones litúrgicas, la principal
de las cuales son los Sacramentos. El término en sí liturgia tiene una
aplicación más amplia que la de Sacramento, ya que abarca toda la
vida oficial oración pública de la Iglesia, mientras que el término se
refiere a Sacramento una celebración particular de la obra salvífica de

RICA
Los preceptos de la Iglesia se encuentran en el contexto de la vida moral y se alimentan
con la vida litúrgica (CIC 2041). Estos preceptos son las leyes eclesiásticas positivas,
cuya finalidad es "garantizar a los fieles el mínimo indispensable en el espíritu de
oración y esfuerzo moral" y de ninguna manera deben ser vistos como agotar la vida
cristiana. El Primer Precepto: Usted deberá asistir a misa los domingos y fiestas de
precepto. El segundo precepto: Confesar los pecados mortales al menos una vez al año
y, usualmente se realiza durante la Cuaresma en preparación para la Pascua. El tercer
precepto: Recibiréis humildemente a nuestro Señor en la Santa Comunión, al menos,
durante el tiempo de Pascua ("Si no coméis la carne del Hijo del hombre y no bebéis su
sangre, no tenéis vida en vosotros"). El cuarto precepto: Usted observará los días de
ayuno y abstinencia establecidos por la Iglesia. El quinto precepto: Usted deberá ayudar

Formación de Fe para Adultos
El sábado 16 de julio, la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Monte
Carmel, la patrona de la Orden del Carmen. Monte Carmel, está cerca de la
moderna ciudad de Haifa, en Israel, no está lejos de donde Cristo creció. Esta
había sido una montaña sagrada mucho antes del nacimiento de Nuestro Señor
y por el siglo XII se había convertido en el hogar de los monjes carmelitas con
una particular devoción a la Virgen María como su patrona. Fue en Inglaterra
en el siglo XIII cuando se dice que un carmelita, San Simón Stock, recibido el

Parish Catechesis—
The formal term for faith education and
formation is “catechesis.” The Catholic
Church identifies all those with
responsibilities for leading faith education
in the name of the church as “catechetical
leaders.” Education and formation in the Catholic faith is
a lifelong, multi-dimensional process. The goal is to help
each person to know and love Jesus Christ, to invite each
person to a deeper intimacy and communion with him in
and through the Catholic Church. Faith education is also
helping learners understand their own faith so all can
confidently and respectfully engage with people of other
religions or beliefs in ways to reflect God’s love and plan
for the world. Please mark your calendar for the week of
September 18th when we will gather with Father Martin
for a session of parish catechesis.

Catequesis Parroquial—
El término formal para la educación y la formación de la fe es
"catequesis". La Iglesia Católica identifica a todos los

Although summer finds the CDA members away
from our activities and meetings, you will find
many of them quietly going about helping at
St. Peter's. We welcome any woman who would like to join
