Embracing Change in the Liturg/Adoptando Cambio en la Liturgia cont…
What exactly is changing? The structure of the Mass (the order of the elements, the actions of the priest celebrant, and
so forth) remains unchanged in the new edition of the Roman Missal. However, the translation of the prayer texts will
change to more closely reflect the original Latin texts. In some cases, new options for prayers may be available, and
some old options may no longer be present.
¿Qué es exactamente el cambio? La estructura de la misa (el orden de los elementos, las acciones del sacerdote celebrante, y así sucesivamente) se mantiene sin cambios en la nueva edición del Misal Romano. Sin embargo, la traducción de los textos de oración cambiará para reflejar más fielmente el texto original en Latín. En algunos casos, nuevas

Will the changes be noticeable? In the third edition of the Roman Missal, almost every prayer in the Mass—those
spoken by the priest and those spoken by the people—has been retranslated from the Latin to English. Some prayers
now recited by memory will need to be relearned, and the familiar language of many prayers recited by the priest will
change.
In preparing the new translation, the translators were asked to make the English texts conform more closely to the Latin
originals and to retain traditional theological vocabulary that communicates important concepts of the faith. The language that the faithful will hear and pray is more formal and somewhat more complex than the language of ordinary
conversation. It conveys rich theological concepts and retains biblical language and images.
¿Los cambios se notarán? En la tercera edición del Misal Romano, casi todas las oraciones en la misa—las pronunciadas por el sacerdote y las que se hablan por el pueblo—han sido retraducido del Latín al Inglés. Algunas oraciones
recitadas ahora por memoria tendrán que volver ser aprendidas, y la lengua familiar de muchas oraciones recitadas
por el sacerdote va a cambiar.
En la preparación de la nueva traducción, los traductores se les pidió que los textos en Inglés se ajustan mejor a los
originales de Latín y que retengán el vocabulario teológico tradicional que comunica conceptos importantes de la fe.
La lengua que los fieles escuchará y orará es más formal y un poco más complejo que la lengua de la conversación

Cremation/Cremación
Does the Catholic Church allow cremation? Yes. While there
is a clear preference for traditional burial, as Christ was buried
in the tomb, cremation has been accepted for over forty years.
Cremation should be done in accordance with the Church’s
teaching in regards to the sanctity of the human body and belief
in the Resurrection.
¿La Iglesia Católica permitirá la cremación? Sí. Si bien
existe una clara preferencia por el entierro tradicional,
como Cristo fue sepultado en la tumba, la cremación ha
sido aceptada por más de cuarenta años. La cremación
se debe hacer de acuerdo con la enseñanza de la Iglesia
en lo que respecta a la inviolabilidad del cuerpo humano
y la creencia en la Resurrección.

I plan on being cremated. What can be done with my remains? The Church teaches that cremated remains should be
buried or entombed in the consecrated grounds of a cemetery
and receive the “Rite of Committal”. Scattering the remains,
keeping them at home or dividing them is not the reverent disposition the Church requires. Along with burial and placement
of cremated remains, CFCS provides free interment of cremated remains, in our remembrance crypt at all of our cemeteries and the Mausoleum at the Cathedral of Christ the Light.

Can I have a Catholic Cremation Funeral? Yes. It can seem
difficult to express your faith and beliefs when choosing cremation. However, the beautiful traditions of the Order of Christian
Funerals can be adapted for those choosing cremation. The
Church’s preference is for the cremation to occur following the
funeral liturgy so that the body can present for the vigil and funeral services. Another option is to have a funeral Mass with
the cremated remains present.
¿Puedo tener un funeral Católico de Cremación? Sí.
Puede parecer difícil de expresar su fe y creencias a la
hora de elegir la cremación. Sin embargo, las bellas tradiciones de la Orden de Funerales Cristianos pueden ser
adaptados para la elección de la cremación. Preferencia
de la Iglesia es que la cremación se produzca después de
la Liturgia del funeral para que el cuerpo pueda estar
