SACRAMENTS
BAPTISMS / BAUTIZOS
Baptisms take place the 4th Saturday of the month (November 26, December 17). Parents and
both godparents will need to attend the pre-baptismal class prior to the Baptism. Pre-Baptismal
classes take place the 2nd Saturday of the month at 04:00 p.m. (October 8, November 12,
December 10). Pick up a registration form from the office. Bring in Baptism registration form
completely filled out, along with a copy of the Birth Certificate to the office between Tuesday and
Friday, at least a month ahead of the date of desired Baptism.
Bautismos tienen lugar el 4to sábado del mes (Noviembre 26, Diciembre 17). Los padres y los dos
padrinos necesitan asistir a la clase pre-bautismal antes de su bautismo. Las clases Pre-Bautismal
llevarán acabo el 2do sábado del mes a las 04:00 p.m. ( Noviembre 12, Diciembre 10).
Pase por la oficina para obtener la hoja de inscripción. Traerla a la oficina llena, junto con la copia
del Acta de Nacimiento por lo menos un mes de anticipación. Los padrinos tienen que ser casados
por la iglesia Católica (traer comprobante) o ser solteros y no vivir en unión libre.

The sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most singular and most beautiful aspects of the
Catholic Church. Jesus Christ in His abundant love and mercy, established the sacrament of
Confession, so that we as sinners could have the possibility of obtaining absolution for our sins
and to reconcile ourselves with God and the Church. The sacrament “washes and cleans”, and
renews us in Christ.
El sacramento de la Reconciliación es uno de los aspectos más singulares y bellos de la Iglesia
Católica. Jesucristo, en Su abundante amor y misericordia, estableció el sacramento de la
Confesión, para que nosotros como pecadores tuviéramos la posibilidad de obtener el perdón de
nuestros pecados y reconciliarnos con Dios y la Iglesia. El sacramento “nos lava y limpia”, y nos
renueva en Cristo.
MARRIAGE / MATRIMONIO
Six months before desired marriage date. Requirements: Living in our jurisdiction (minimum 6
months); Baptismal Certificate (valid no more than 6 months); Pre-marital Talks; Civil
Marriage Act or Marriage License.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo
Pope Pius XI universally instituted the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King in 1925 in his encyclical Quas Primas. At the time, secularism was on the rise, and many Christians, even Catholics, were doubting Christ’s authority,
as well as the Church’s, and even doubting Christ’s existence. Pius XI, and the rest of the Christian world, witnessed the
rise of dictatorships in Europe, and saw Catholics being taken in by these earthly leaders.
Pius hoped the institution of the feast would have various effects. They were:
- That nations would see that the Church has the right to freedom, and immunity from the state (Quas Primas, 32).
- That leaders and nations would see that they are bound to give respect to Christ (Quas Primas, 31).
- That the faithful would gain strength and courage from the celebration of the feast, as we are reminded that Christ must
reign in our hearts, minds, wills, and bodies (Quas Primas, 33).
Celebrated one week prior to the first Sunday of Advent — a purposeful time of preparing, waiting, and making straight
the path for Jesus in our lives — the feast that proclaims Christ being Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the
universe is just as relevant today as ever.
El Papa Pio XI instituyó la Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo Rey en 1925 en su encíclica Quas Primas. En
ese momento el laicismo aumentaba an el mundo, y muchos cristianos, incluyendo catolicos, dudaban the la autoridad de Cristo y de la Iglesia, hasta dudar de la existencia de Cristo. Pio XI y el resto del mundo cristiano vivió el aumento de dictadores en Europa y vio catolicos que se involucraron con estos lideres humanos.
Pio XI esperaba que la institución de esta fiesta tuviera varios efectos:
- Que naciones vieran que la Iglesia tiene derecho a la libertad y es immune a directivas del estado (QP, 32).
- Que lideres y naciones vieran que le deben respeto a Cristo (QP, 31).
- Que feligreses encontraran fuerza y valor en la celebracion de la fiesta, como se nos recuerda que Cristo debe reinar en nuestros corazones, razon, y cuerpos (QP, 33).
Se celebra una semana antes del comienzo de Adviento– una epoca en la cual nos preparamos, esperamos, y
arreglamos nuestros caminos para tener a Jesus en nuestras vidas-la fiesta que proclama a Cristo como Creador,
Redentor, preservador y Rey del Universo es tan relevante hoy más que nunca.

The Advent Wreath
The wreath is symbolic.
The circle of evergreen
in which the candles are
placed represents everlasting life. The nuts and
cones that decorate the
wreath are symbolic of
resurrection, and fruits
represent the nourishing
fruitfulness of the Christian life.
Violet is a litur gical
color that is used to signify a time of prayer,
penance, and sacrifice and is used during Advent and
Lent. Advent, also called “little Lent,” is the season
where we spiritually wait in our “darkness” with
hopeful expectation for our promised redemption,
just as the whole world did before Christ’s birth, and
just as the whole world does now as we eagerly await
his promised return. Rose is a color symbolizing Joy.
We light the rose candle on the third Sunday of Advent.
