RCIA – RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION
FOR ADULTS
RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, is welcoming
adults into the process for the upcoming liturgical year. RCIA is
for adults who are either:

The parish is looking for a new team of people to count the
church collection. This team would gather on bi-weekly Monday
mornings to count the collection and prepare the bank deposit.
The team will consist of three people.

MASS INTENTIONS
Mass intentions can be arranged by visiting the Parish Center.
Cards are available, and you may choose from one of the
following options:
Announced
A Mass will be offered at St. Bridget Church or Newman House at
Rowan University for a deceased loved one on a particular day
and time as arranged with the parish office. The offering is $15.
There is an option of single intentions or collective intentions.
Unannounced
A Mass will be offered for a deceased loved one by one of our
diocesan retired priests, or by one of the various missions that
we use, which are located throughout the world. Since the date
and time the Mass will be offered is not known to us, it is
“unannounced”. The offering is $10.
Living
Mass can be offered for someone who is living, e.g. for a speedy
recovery, anniversary, birthday, etc. The arrangements are the
same as above, except that the Mass card will be different.
The Guidelines are as follows:
1.
Collective or multiple Mass intentions are available at
the Sunday 8:30 am liturgy and the Sunday 10:30 am liturgy.
Collective or multiple Mass intentions assist people in arranging
for a Mass intention sooner than normally possible.
2.
According to diocesan directives, the following
requirements must be met with reference to collective or
multiple intention Masses:
• The intentions are remembered at Mass by one priest.
• Those who arrange for the intentions must agree
beforehand and freely to have their intention
remembered with other intentions. The daily Mass and
Saturday vigil are available for those preferring a single
intention.
• The collective or multiple intention Mass may not occur
more than twice a week.
• The usual offering of $15 may be asked for each
intention.
• Only one family name per intention should be listed.
What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone?
Mass intentions refer to the particular purpose for which a
specific Mass is offered. Most commonly, a Mass is requested for
the repose of the soul of someone who has died. One should
never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the
Mass which benefit one’s soul, both for the living and the
deceased.
Although the origins of the practice of offering Mass intentions
date to the early Church, we still recognize its importance today.
To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday,
anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and
appreciated. Really, there is no greater gift that we can give.
Daily and Sunday Mass intentions to be offered here at St.
Bridget’s are available, and there are many weekday intentions
open for this year. If you would like to remember a loved one in
this way, please stop by or call the Parish office for more
information.

BACKPACK GIVING TREE
Families Formed in Faith will be sponsoring a Backpack with
School Supplies Collection Drive. The drive will begin August 1314 and go thru August 20-21. Please take a tag from the giving
tree and return the backpack, and supplies, along with the tag no
later than August 20-21. All backpacks collected will be given to
local families in need of school supplies. If you are a family in
need of a backpack, please e-mail: jdmwalsh@verizon.net or

Does our Church database have YOUR family membership record
correct? Here is your chance to update YOUR record for our
annual Guide Book & Directory (if you haven’t already done so).
It is time for us to update our database with any changes,
additions, or deletions that may have occurred in YOUR family
over the past year.
Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are
all of your children still at home and are they all included in your
membership record? Remember, once your child reaches 21,
even if still living at home, they should complete their own
registration form as an adult. If you DO NOT want your
information to be published, you must notify the Parish Center
by September 1.

ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL REGIONAL SCHOOL
“Adopt-A-Student” - Each year, there are qualified students who
would benefit from our programs and school, but whose families
cannot afford tuition. To meet this need, we have developed an
opportunity for friends of St. Michael the Archangel Regional
School to adopt a student by making a donation to help sponsor

Volleyball - SMRS is looking for girls grades 4 through 8 to join
the Warriors Volleyball team. Practices and games are during
week nights, and the season runs from September to November.

THE WEDDING OF THE SEA: Monday, August 15 - Witness the spectacular growth of an Atlantic City tradition on Monday, August 15!
Mass of the Assumption of Mary at Boardwalk Hall at 12 Noon. Prior to the Mass, Miss America 1984, Suzette Charles will sing the
National Anthem. Bishop Dennis Sullivan will celebrate the Mass and Kenny i and Marie McMenamy from Kenny i Entertainment will
provide the music. Immediately following the Mass, we will process to the surf for the Wedding of the Sea. Bishop Sullivan and
Mayor Guardian will enter an Atlantic City lifeboat for the traditional wreath toss. Boardwalk Hall, located at Mississippi Avenue and
the Boardwalk, will open at 11 AM. Wedding of the Sea Festival at St. Michael's from 12:30 to 6 PM. The festival has returned! Ten
restaurant vendors and a beer garden. For the children, there will be carnival games, face painting and a balloon artist. Live music
and a DJ. Air-conditioned indoor and tented outdoor seating. St. Michael's is located a couple of blocks from Boardwalk Hall at 10

MINISTERIO ENCUENTRO DE NOVIOS
Cuando el programa de preparación matrimonial se lleva a cabo a
través de los fines de semana de retiro Encuentro de Novios cosas
buenas están ocurriendo. Una gran mayoría de las parejas que
atienden están reportando un fin de semana positivo muy necesario de
la conexión espiritual y la oportunidad de mejorar la comunicación
entre la pareja en la preparación para el Sacramento del Matrimonio. Si

Durante este año jubilar de la Misericordia, los sacerdotes y diáconos

SALON DE LA IGLESIA
La sala en la Iglesia está disponible en alquiler para las funciones
personales aprobados por acuerdo firmado solamente. Además de una

¿Estás de 21 años de edad o más? Estamos pidiendo que se registre

VELA SANTUARIO
La vela es el santuario de la vela roja detrás del altar, al lado del
tabernáculo. Se queda encendida para recordarnos la presencia real
de Jesús en la Eucaristía y su presencia constante con nosotros. La
vela del Santuario está disponible para el patrocinio. Por una donación
de $10.00 por usted puede designar su ofrenda en honor a una
persona especial, en acción de gracias por una bendición, o en la
memoria de un ser querido. Por favor, póngase en contacto con el
centro parroquial para hacer su solicitud y la donación. Su solicitud se
anotará en el boletín semanal. Todos los beneficios se destinarán a la
Sociedad de Altar y Rosario y ser utilizado para la comprar vestidos de

Familias Formadas en la Fe serán los patrocinadores de una colecta
de mochilas con útiles escolares. La unidad comenzará de agosto
de 13-14 y va hasta agosto 20-21. Por favor, tome una etiqueta del
árbol dar y devolver la mochila, y materiales de construcción,
además puedes coger la etiqueta no más tarde del agosto. 20-21
También puede hacer una donación monetaria. Por favor, coloque la
donación de dinero en efectivo en un sobre con la mochila DONACIÓN
escrita en el sobre y el lugar en el canasto de la colecta. Se dará todas
las mochilas recogidos a las familias locales en necesidad de útiles

FAMILIAS PONIÉNDOLE FIN A LA VIOLENCIA DOMÉSTICA
Caridades Católicas está ofreciendo una serie de talleres destinados a
abordar el tema tan escalado de la Violencia Domestica. Estas series,
