Queridas Familias:
Pentecost is one of the three major celebrations of the
Church, along with Christmas & Easter. This word
simply means fifty. In the fifty days after His Easter
(resurrection), Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his apostles
and disciples, who were gathered in prayer.
The Spirit is like the air we breathe; the light that
illuminates our thinking; the fire that burns in our
hearts when we are in the presence of His Divine Mercy.
The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church. The Spirit
provides different gifts to different members of the
Church, so that we can help each other to experience the
love of God. We need each other. We need to meet, so
that we can best know and praise God, together; to
share, with one another, what He has given us. Trying to
live without the Holy Spirit is like trying to breathe
without air; to see without light; and to love without
heart.
We were all baptized in one and the same Spirit, which
testifies that we are children of God. That same Spirit,
the Advocate, was God's gift to the disciples, given to
remind them of all that Jesus had taught them, and to
strengthen them so that they might go forth, in the name
of the Lord, to renew His peace on earth.
We are also sent out, with this same Spirit, to bring those
who walk without truth...without light...into His love.
God wants us all to be saved. This is why we have to
help kindle the faith in the hearts of each new
generation...the men, women, youth and children who
will, otherwise, suffer the full consequence of sin and evil
attacks.
Let us be strong, in the Spirit.

Pentecostés es una de las tres importantes celebraciones
de la Iglesia: Navidad, Resurrección y Pentecostés. Esta
palabra simplemente significa cincuenta. A los cincuenta días de la Pascua Jesús envió sobre sus apóstoles y
discípulos reunidos en oración el Espíritu Santo.
El Espíritu es como el aire que respiramos, la luz que
ilumina nuestro pensar, el fuego que arde en nuestros
corazones ante la presencia de la Divina Misericordia.
El Espíritu Santo es el alma de la Iglesia. El Espíritu da
diferentes dones a diferentes miembros de la Iglesia para
que podamos ayudarnos unos a otros a experimentar el
amor de Dios. Nos necesitamos unos a otros, necesitamos reunirnos para conocer y alabar a Dios y compartir lo que tenemos. Sin el Espíritu Santo es como tratar de respirar sin aire, pensar sin luz, amar sin fuego.
A todos nosotros se nos bautizó en uno y en el mismo
Espíritu, el cual testifica que somos hijos de Dios. Ese
mismo Espíritu, el defensor, se les dio como don a los
discípulos para recordarles todo lo que Jesús les había
enseñado y para fortalecerlos para ir en el nombre del
Señor a renovar la paz de la tierra.
Nosotros somos también enviados con este Espíritu a
reunir a todos los que andan sin luz, sin verdad, sin
amor. Dios quiere que todos se salven. Hemos de
ayudar a salvar para la fe a las nueas generaciones de
hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y niños que están sufriendo
las consecuencias del pecado y los ataques del maligno.

Pope Francis prayer intentions for May
General Prayer Intention - That in every country of the world, women may
be honored and respected and that their essential contribution to society
may be highly esteemed.
Evangelization Prayer Intention - That families, communities, and groups
may pray the Holy Rosary for evangelization and peace.
As of May 1, 2016, St. Jude reached 26.67% of its
goal, according to the Diocese of Venice.
Our parish shares in the cost of all the programs
supported through the CFA. Once we meet our
assessment goal from the Diocese, our parish
directly benefits from all additional funds.
Supporting the CFA is a great way to make one
pledge and benefit programs of outreach to
people in our own Diocese.

Pentecost, the Holy Spirit gave voice to the
disciples. The apostles were afraid; so o are we.
But the same Spirit is with us, too. Ask Him for the courage
to speak out on the fundamental right to life, at all stages
and all ages. Pray that He gives us the words that lead others also to respect life. Let us be heard beyond the pews,
during the week. Let us be heard outside the Upper Room.

que alcancemos nuestro objetivo asignado por la
Diócesis, nuestra parroquia se beneficia

En Pentecostés, el Espíritu Santo le dio voz a los
discípulos. Los apóstoles tenían miedo; así somos nosotros.
Pero el mismo Espíritu está con nosotros, también.
Pidámosle por el valor de poder hablar sobre el derecho
fundamental a la vida, en todas las etapas y todas las
edades. Oremos para que Él nos dé las palabras que
conducen a otros a respetar la vida también. Que seamos
escuchados durante la semana, más allá de las bancas de la
Iglesia. Que seamos escuchados fuera del Aposento Alto
(la casa).

Please join me, the clergy and the staff at St. Jude
Parish in extending a warm welcome to our new
Parochial Vicar, Father Claudio Stewart, who
has joined our Parish effective May 9, 2016.
Father Claudio is a native of Buenos Aires,
Argentina; he attended the Santa María Madre de Dios
Seminary in the Diocese of San Rafael, Mendoza,
Argentina; where he was ordained on December 8,
1990. Fr. Claudio served previously as Parochial Vicar
of Holy Cross Parish in Palmetto.

bienvenida a nuestro nuevo Vicario Parroquial, el
Padre Claudio Stewart, quien se ha unido a
