Queridas Familias:
Dear Families:
Today we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of
Christ (more commonly known by its Latin name,
Corpus Christi).
In last Sunday's bulletin, we read that the unity and
plurality of Christians are signified and realized in the
Eucharist. The symbolism of the Eucharist was
explicitly recognized by the early Christians. The bread
and wine, which becomes the body and blood of Christ,
were formerly grains of wheat and scattered grapes
before they were bread and wine.
Hoy celebramos la fiesta del Cuerpo y de la Sangre de
Cristo (Corpus Christi) en lengua latina que es como
más lo conocemos.
Al final del boletín parroquial del pasado domingo les
decía que la unidad y pluralidad de los cristianos es significada y realizada por la Eucaristía. Pues bien, el simbolismo eucarístico fue reconocido explícitamente por
los primeros cristianos. El pan y el vino, que se convierten en el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo antes de ser
pan y vino, fueron granos de trigo y uvas dispersos.
The Eucharist is truly the sacrificial feast of unity of
all children of God, as St. Paul explained to the early
Christians of Corinth: "Because the loaf of bread is one,
we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of
the one loaf." (1 Cor 10:17) The plurality of the
Eucharistic banquet is reflected in the term - "the
breaking of bread" – by which it is known.
La Eucaristía es realmente sacrificio de unidad y banquete de todos los hijos de Dios. Escribe San Pablo
explicando a los primeros cristianos de Corinto: “Porque
uno solo es el pan, aun siendo muchos, un solo cuerpo
somos, pues todos participamos del mismo pan” (1 Cor

Without the Eucharist, the Church does not exist
(and without the Eucharist, I would not be a priest). By
our participation in the Eucharist, we receive the Body
of Christ, and thereby unite in communion with Christ
and with God. Let us prepare to take communion; Let
us prepare to receive Christ.
Sin Eucaristía no existe la Iglesia (sin Eucaristía yo no
sería sacerdote). Particular en la Eucaristía, recibir el
Cuerpo de Cristo, es unirnos en comunión y en Cristo

His Body was given for us. His Blood was shed for
the forgiveness of sins. (Luke 22:19; Mt 26:28) The
"First Communion” cannot be the first if there are not
many more to follow, throughout our lives, until our
encounter at the end with Christ himself. Help the
children to receive Jesus.
Su Cuerpo se entrega por nosotros; su Sangre se derrama para el perdón de los pecados (Luc 22:19; Mt
26:28). La “Primera Comunión no puede ser primera si
no hay muchas, muchas más que siguen a lo largo de
nuestra vida y hasta nuestro encuentro al final con el

memorial of His death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond
of charity, a paschal banquet in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace; and a pledge
of future glory is given to us.”

en que lo traicionaban, instituyó el sacrificio
eucarístico de su cuerpo y de su sangre, con el

may as well do. In receiving Christ, we are to
receive the whole Christ, in all his members, our
brothers and sisters, whether convenient or
inconvenient, wanted or unwanted, born or
unborn.

Group for summer months “We need to find God, and God cannot be found in noise and restlessness.
God is the friend of silence.” Mother Teresa Christian meditation or prayer of the heart as it is sometimes called evolved
from the tradition and teachings of the early desert mothers and fathers by
Benedictines Father John Main and his successor Laurence Freeman,
OSB. On Monday, June 1, a Christian Meditation group will meet at St. Jude

The Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take place from
June 21 to July 4, 2015, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS.
Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. The theme of
this year's Fortnight will focus on the "freedom to bear witness" to the truth of
the Gospel.
