Angels are pure, created spirits. The name angel means servant
or messenger of God. Angels are celestial or heavenly beings, on
a higher order than human beings. Archangels are one of the
nine choirs of angels listed in the Bible.

Our Lady of Good Counsel parish is a ROMAN
CATHOLIC, MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY guided by
the AUGUSTINIAN tradition.
Through our CELEBRATION of the WORD and
SACRAMENT, and our PARTICIPATION in the LIFE OF
THE CHURCH, we strive to

PREACH God’s MESSAGE by word and

BUILD UP a spirit of COMMUNITY;
The liturgy celebrates the feast of these three archangels who are venerated
in the tradition of the Church. Michael (Who is like God) was the archangel
who fought against Satan and all his evil angels, defending all the friends of
God. He is the protector of all humanity from the snares of the devil. Gabriel
(Strength of God) announced to Zachariah the forthcoming birth of John the
Baptist, and to Mary, the birth of Jesus. His greeting to the Virgin, "Hail, full of
grace," is one of the most familiar and frequent prayers of the Christian people. (Patron of Ambassadors, broadcasting, childbirth, clergy). Raphael
(Medicine of God) is the archangel who took care of Tobias on his journey.
His mission as wonderful healer and fellow traveler with the youthful Tobias
has caused him to be invoked for journeys and at critical moments in life.

Los ángeles son espíritus puros y creados. Ángel significa sirviente o mensajero de Dios. Los ángeles son seres celestiales,

OLGC SPORTS ASSOCIATION NEWS
The OLGC Sports Association welcomes all the children
of our parish to participate in our sports programs. Late
Registration is now open for children interested in participating in Cross Country Track (Grades Pre-K-8). Register online at olgc.sportssignup.com Final deadline for
soccer is 9/26 and Cross Country is 9/30. For any registration questions, email OLGCBlueKnights@gmail.com.
The 2014 OLGC Sports Association Golf Outing is set for
Friday, October 10th at 1PM. The Outing will take place at
Silver Lake Golf Course. Cost is $150 and includes a barbeque following golf. All are welcome – or join us for the BBQ
only for just $50. For more details or to volunteer, contact

The OLGC Sports Association is planning for our 3rd Annual
Outdoor Movie Night tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 17th. It was a huge success for many of our parish families last year. We welcome everyone to join us as we watch
a kid friendly sports themed movie in the school parking
lot. More information to come soon!
VOCATIONS TO CONSECRATED LIFE
Brother Joe Murray and Brother Carlos Medina will be
here the weekend of October 4 & 5 to speak to us during
Mass about vocation to consecrated life, especially to the
Order of Saint Augustine.
