Presidents Day is a public holiday in the United States We
shall celebrate our bilingual Mass at 9.30a.m. On that day,
we shall NOT have our daily mass at 1.00p.m.
to take place on Monday March 21, 2016 beginning from

WAY OF THE CROSS. Every Thursday during Lent our
way of the Cross will begin at 6.30p.m. in Spanish, and

ALMSGIVING: Is a charitable action of giving help
(money, food, clothes, household items etc to the needy
and church. The needy include orphans, widows, the sick,
elderly, immigrants… with the aim of alleviating their
sufferings out of the love for Christ and neighbor. May

daughters’ Quinceanera or “Sweet Sixteen” at St. Angela
Merici Church must register with priest to set up the day
for the Mass on which this event will be held at least six
months before the event. Furthermore, for an integral

THE CARDINAL’S ANNUAL STEWARDSHP APPEAL
2016: Every year, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of
New York Archdiocese asks parishioners to support him
financially. Saint Angela Merici Church has always
responded generously and exceeded our annual goal. As a
parish our goal this year is $14, 000. We please ask every
parishioner to respond freely, generously and on time so
that we may reach our goal quickly and easily. Envelopes
for Cardinal’s Appeal are provided at the back of the

ENCYCLICAL ON THE ENVIRONMENT: In his recent
encyclical on caring for all creation, Pope Francis highlights
overconsumption and excessive economic development as
the primary causes of the destruction of our common
home. With him, let us pray to “discover the worth in each
thing” and to embody that discovery by buying less and
recycling our possessions when we no longer need them.

A PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND AND ITALY: A
pilgrimage to the holy land and Italy has been scheduled to
take place from May 1st 2016 to May 14th 2016. The total
cost, including the airline ticket is $ 3989.00. It will be a
great holy trip with the spiritual direction of Fr. Nestorio
Agirembabazi, A.J., our pastor who will be traveling with

Lent2016
is to teach us what we hear over and over in today’s
readings. “Call upon me, and I will answer,” the Lord
promises in today’s Psalm. Paul promises the same thing
in today’s Epistles. This was Israel’s experience, as Moses
reminds his people in today’s First Reading: “We cried to
the Lord...and He heard.” But each of us is tempted, as
Israel was, to forget the great deeds He works in our
lives, to neglect our birthright as His beloved sons and
daughters. Like the litany of remembrance Moses
prescribes for Israel, we should see in the Mass a
memorial of our salvation, and “bow down in His
presence,” offering ourselves in thanksgiving for all He
has given us.

ENCICLICA SOBRE EL CUIDADO DE LA CREACION:
En su reciente encíclica sobre el cuidado de la
creación, el Papa Francisco resalta el sobreconsumo y
el excesivo crecimiento económico como causa
primaria de la destrucción de nuestra casa común.
Con el, vamos a rezar para “ descubrir el valor en cada
cosa” y para incorporar ese descubrimiento al
comprar menos y reciclando nuestras posesiones
cuando ya no la necesitemos mas.
CAMPAÑA DEL CARDENAL 2016: Todos los años el
In today’s epic Gospel scene, Jesus relives in His flesh the
history of Israel. We’ve already seen that like Israel, Jesus
has passed through water, been called God’s beloved
Son. Now, as Israel was tested for forty years in the
wilderness, Jesus is led into the desert to be tested for
forty days and nights. He faces the temptations put to
Israel: Hungry, He’s tempted to grumble against God for
food. As Israel quarreled at Massah, He’s tempted to
doubt God’s care . When the Devil asks His homage, He’s
tempted to do what Israel did in creating the golden calf
(see Exodus 32).
Jesus fights the Devil with the Word of God, three times
quoting from Moses’ lecture about the lessons Israel was
supposed to learn from its wilderness wanderings. Why
do we read this story on the first Sunday of Lent? Because
like the biblical sign of forty, the forty days of Lent are a
time of trial and purification.

AYUNO: La ley del ayuno requiere que un católico de 18
años a 59 años, reducir la cantidad de alimentos ingeridos
de lo normal durante la temporada de Cuaresma.

PREPARACIÓN CELEBRACION DE QUINCE AÑOS: Los
