THE FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART
Friday, June 3rd, is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of
Jesus. The Diocese of Brooklyn has chosen this F east as one of
the Diocesan observances for the Year of Mercy. Our parish will
have our usual First Friday Adoration beginning after the 9:00am

Monday, May 30th is Memor ial Day and a National Hol- Mass, but for this Feast concluding with a bi-lingual Mass at
7:00pm.

WELCOME ANGELICA!
It is a pleasure to share with you that Angelica
Taveras will be the new Coordinator of the
Youth Group starting August 1, 2016.
Angelica Taveras was born in the Dominican
Republic and has lived in Jackson Heights for
over 22 years. She grew up and completed her
sacraments at Blessed Sacrament and from a
very young age always felt the desire to serve
in her community of faith in any capacity.
Angelica was a catechist for several years and
belonged to the music ministry Theotokos which eventually led
her to get involved with youth ministry in the parish and then with
JDV, a Diocesan ministry, for over 4 years. She graduated from
Syracuse University with a degree in finance and Hotel Management. She fulfilled her career in the Hotel Industry for 11 years
before deciding to devote full time to her mission in the church.
Angelica ended the 3 year Lay leadership program in the diocese
in 2013 and is now completing a master's degree in Pastoral Studies in Fodham University with a concentration in youth ministry
and outreach to the Hispanic community. She belongs to the pastoral committee, the adult choir, she is a lector, and for the past 4
years has coordinated Youth Ministry in the parish. This summer
she is pleased to participate in World Youth Day in Poland. Her
dedication to the young and her Hispanic culture has led her to
take part in the call that Pope Francis makes us, to create a culture
of encounter with Christ and be bold and creative in new outreach
methods.
It is a blessing for Blessed Sacrament Parish to have her as part of

Bishop DiMarzio for a one day Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Divine
Mercy (Stockbridge, Massachusetts).

SUMMER CHURCH SCHEDULE
Beginning Monday June 6th, 2015 the Summer Weekday
Mass Schedule will be the same:
7:00am Spanish
9:00am English
However, the Church will close at 12:00noon. The Rectory
Office will close at 7:00pm during the Summer Time. There
will be No Exposition dur ing the Summer . This schedule
will remain in effect through Labor Day. We will resume on
Tuesday, September 6th.

celebrar la Festividad del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús celebraremos
la Misa bilingüe a las 7:00pm.

Es con una enorme alegría que compartimos la
llegada oficial a nuestra parroquia de Angélica
Taveras quien desde este verano asume la Coordinación del Grupo de Jóvenes y quien a partir
del 1 de Agosto del 2016 será parte integral del
equipo Pastoral del Santísimo Sacramento.
Angélica Taveras nació en la Republica Dominicana y tiene más de 22 años que reside en
Jackson Heights. Creció y completo sus sacramentos en la Iglesia del SAntisimo Sacramento
y desde muy pequeña siempre sintió el deseo de servir en su comunidad de fe en cualquier capacidad. Fue catequista por varios
años y perteneció al ministerio de música Teotokos lo cual la llevó
a involucrarse con los jóvenes en la parroquia y luego en Jóvenes
de Valor, un ministerio Diocesano, por más de 4 años. Se graduó
de la universidad de Syracuse con una licenciatura en finanzas y
administración de Hoteles. Ejercitó su carrera en la Hotelería por
11 años antes de decidir dedicarse a tiempo completo en su misión
en la iglesia. Angélica terminó en el 2013 sus 3 años en el Instituto Pastoral de la diócesis y en el presente está terminando una
maestría en Fodham University en estudios Pastorales con una
concentración en ministerio juvenil y evangelización a la comunidad Hispana. Pertenece al comité pastoral, el coro de adultos, es
proclamadora de la Palabra, y por los últimos 4 años ha coordinado
el grupo juvenil de la parroquia. Este verano tendrá el placer de
participar de la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud en Polonia. Su
dedicación a los jóvenes y a su cultural hispana la ha llevado a
tomar parte del llamado que del Papa Francisco nos hace, de crear
una cultura de encuentro con Cristo y ser audaz y creativo en nuevos métodos de evangelización.
Es una bendición para nosotros tenerla como parte de nuestro staff
y compartir así responsabilidades.

As we celebrate this weekend the
Feast of the Body and Blood of
Christ let us reflect on the concrete
meaning of this celebration. It is
not in our hands the miracle of
multiplying the loaves, but it is to
share what we have with others,
multiply the bread of love and affection that so many lack, and
practice solidarity with the disinherited. Engage life with a faith
that does justice: to take the side of
those who need bread every day,
which means actually engaging in our environment as the
term "bread" contains: food, housing, family, work, culture, freedom, personal dignity and human rights. All this
does not accept with discrimination of any kind, whether
individuals or groups, not with oppression and exploitation
of like us or want to build walls leading us into false security. The Gifts of God, those of his kingdom and the Earth
are for everyone.
We bless you, Father, because today you invite us in
Christ to sit at the Eucharistic Table in which you multiply
for the world's hungry and gives us his Body and Blood.
Give us, Lord Jesus, hungry for bread of life that is you,
and abundantly satiate us with your body sacrificed for us,
to become splendid spring of a calcine desert.
Amen.

Al celebrar este fin de semana la festividad del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo
conviene reflexionar sobre el significado concreto de esta celebración. No esta
en nuestra mano el Milagro de multiplicar los panes, pero si compartir lo nuestro con los demás, multiplicar el pan del
amor y del cariño que a tantos falta, y
practicar la Solidaridad con los mas desheredados. Ocuparnos en vivir una Fe
que haga Justicia: para ponerse del lado
de cuantos necesitan el pan de cada día
que quiere decir empeñarse en que sea
realidad en nuestro entorno cuanto el
termino "pan" encierra: alimento, vivienda, familia, trabajo, cultura, Libertad, Dignidad personal y derechos humanos. Todo eso no se aviene con discriminaciones de cualquier tipo, sea de personas o de grupos, ni con la opresión
y explotación de los semejantes o en querer construir muros para dividirnos en falsas seguridades. Los bienes de
Dios, los de su Reino y los de la Tierra son para todos.
Danos, Señor Jesús, hambre del pan de vida que eres tu, y
sáciala abundantemente con tu cuerpo inmolado por nosotros, que convierta en esplendida primavera nuestro desierto calcinado.

MR. PRESIDENT, HALT THE RAIDS!
Last week media outlets reported that the Obama Administration will initiate a new wave of raids to detain and deport Central
American families and unaccompanied minors who have recently turned eighteen, despite the well-documented humanitarian and
human rights crisis plaguing the Northern Triangle of Central America. El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala are currently experiencing some of the highest rates of homicide and violence in the world, resulting in the forced displacement of thousands of their
citizens to neighboring countries, as well as to the U.S.
Will you join me in urging President Obama to stop these destructive raids?
Many of those targeted for deportation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE), have valid claims to humanitarian protection in the United States but lacked adequate legal representation or were fast tracked through legal proceedings
without basic due process guarantees. (see Jesuit Refugee Service/USA and U.S.-based Jesuit law schools involvement in ad-
vocating for legal representation of children in migration and asylum proceedings)
The targeting of these highly vulnerable children and families is part of an inhumane and inappropriate response to the current need
for protection of Ventral American migrants. Returning endangered individuals to lie-threatening circumstances is a violation of our
most basic commitments as a nation. As a person of faith committed to supporting our endangered migrant brothers and sisters, join
me in urging our elected officials to stop the raids targeting Central American children an families!

Los medios de comunicación informaron la semana pasada que la Administración Obama iniciará una nueva ola de redadas para
detener y deportar a las familias de Centroamérica y menores no acompañados que hayan de cumplir dieciocho años, a pesar de la
crisis bien documentada humanitaria y de derechos humanos que afecta al Triángulo Norte de América Central. El Salvador, Honduras y Guatemala están experimentando algunas de las tasas más altas de homicidios y la violencia en el mundo, lo que resulta en el
desplazamiento forzado de miles de sus ciudadanos a los países vecinos, así como a los EE.UU.
¿Se unirían a mi para instar al presidente Obama a poner un alto a estos ataques destructivos?
