LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION The necessary requirements to receive a Letter of Recommendation is to be a registered and practicing member of our parish. St. Patrick Church has a Chaplain who visits patients at Mt. Sinai Hospital. If you or someone you know is hospitalized and would like to be visited by the Chaplain, please inform the hospital of your Catholic affiliation. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES Classes are available for children from first grade through high school age, and for Adults in English and Spanish, from September through May. OFFICE HOURS Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm Saturday 9am to 4pm Sunday 9am to 12 Noon PARISH NEWS Today is a Day of Prayer for the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 19th of October to treat the topic: The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization. The special prayer to be recited at all the Masses this weekend is on page 5 of our bulletin this week. The second collection today provides funds to reduce your parish debt. Please give generously. Representatives from our Why Catholic? Team are outside the Church after all the Masses this weekend to encourage our parishioners to join us on Saturday, October 4th, for our Annual Parish Assembly. The Assembly takes place in the Parish Hall, from 11:30am to 3pm and is presented by Why Catholic? The theme is Lunch-Talk-Learn-N-Pray, all are welcome. There is a registration flyer in the bulletin this week. Why Catholic? Will have a brief meeting on Friday, October 3rd, to plan the upcoming Assembly. Please attend this important meeting. In order to meet the needs of our parishioners, St. Joseph Parish has teamed up with Barry University’s Social Work Department and we are pleased to announce that we now have an intern on site. Jasmine is in the parish office on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9am to 12 noon and on Saturdays during our St. Vincent de Paul food program in the parish hall to assist our parishioners. Prison Ministry: If you are interested in getting involved with this new ministry, please fill out your information on the clipboard on the Welcome Table, or call the parish office for more information. Registration is in progress for our Religious Education Classes taking place on Sundays at 11:20am and Mondays at 3:15pm. A copy of your child’s baptismal certificate (if child is not baptized, a copy of the birth certificate), plus the registration fee and any unpaid balance from last year, is required to register. This year we will have Seminarians in our Monday program. For Adults: if you have not received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation or if you were baptized in a Christian Church and you wish to join the Catholic Church, please fill in the application form on the Welcome Table in order to begin the interview process. Baptism Classes in Spanish, Wednesday, October 1st, at 7:30pm in the Church and English, Monday, October 13th, at 7pm in the chapel. Please register in the parish office, there is a $15.00 fee if the baptism is not taking place here. The next Pastoral Council meeting will take place on Thursday, October 2nd at 7pm in the Parish Office. The traditional blessing of domestic pets, in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, will be on Sunday, October 5th, at 12:15pm, by the Grotto of the Blessed Mother. A free will offering will be taken up for the benefit of Almost Home Dog Rescue & Rehab in Vermont that saves disabled dogs from Miami-Dade & Broward County who have been abandoned at the shelters. Songs and Prayers in the Spirit of TAIZE (multilingual) on Friday, October 10th, at 7:30pm in the Church. On Sunday, October 12th, we will be hosting our parish festival and Ministry Fair, International Day - A Celebration of America, in the Parish Hall from 10am to 2pm. All are welcome. Como siempre, les recordamos que la segunda colecta de hoy esta destinada para reducir la deuda de la parroquia y les pedimos que sean generosos en esta segunda colecta. El equipo estará afuera de la Iglesia, después de todos las Misas de este fin de semana, para animar a nuestros feligreses a unirse el sábado 4 de octubre a nuestra Asamblea anual de la Parroquia. Esta reunión es para planificar en Asamblea Parroquial que se aproxima. La inscripción sigue en programa para nuestras clases de educación religiosa que tienen lugar los domingos a las 11:20am y los lunes a las 3:15pm. Una copia del certificado de bautismo de su hijo (si el niño no esta bautizado, una copia del certificado de nacimiento) mas la cuota de inscripción y el balance no pagado del año pasado, es necesario registrarse.
