On October 7 the Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, which commemorates the victory of the Christian armies against
the Muslim Turks at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The pope at the time was St. Pius V, who, having been a member of the
Order of Preachers, was a great lover and promoter of the Holy Rosary. The Rosary had been especially entrusted by the Blessed Mother to
St. Dominic about 350 years earlier as the means by which Dominic would conquer heresy in Southern Europe. At a time of great crisis
and fear, St. Pius, ever the faithful son of St. Dominic, urged all Christians to pray the Rosary for victory in the defense of Christian Europe
from the invaders. The naval victory by the "Holy League" at Lepanto was a gift from the Mother of God, into whose Immaculate Heart the
Rosary brings us. The feast of her victory on October 7 makes October the Month of the Holy Rosary. There are many books and websites
and "experts" on spirituality and prayer and inner peace these days. To be sure, they are not all evil. Yet they do tend to over-complicate
the matter of the spiritual life. The truth is that, in the Holy Rosary, the Christian has all he needs for a profound life of prayer and meditation. The Rosary really is the perfect method of prayer. It contains the most sublime vocal prayers, which are largely drawn from Scripture
- the Lord's Prayer ("Our Father"), composed by Jesus Himself, and the Angelic Salutation ("Hail Mary"), composed by the inspiration of
the Holy Spirit - and it contains the central mysteries of our faith for our meditation as we pray the vocal prayers. It brings together the two
types of prayer that man can initiate. It puts on our lips the holiest petitions and fills our minds with the loveliest divine realities. To pray
the Rosary well, we need to use good reflections on the mysteries. This keeps our minds from getting distracted as we recite the vocal prayers. The meditations composed by St. Josemaria Escrivá are particularly beautiful. Or use those of any of the saints! Only if we meditate on
the mysteries with attention and devotion will the Rosary bring us the inner peace and joy that is our spiritual refreshment. It will also be
helpful to use sacred art to keep our senses attuned to the mysteries. The Internet is a rich treasure-house both of meditations by the saints
and masterpieces by the great artists. Use the tools available to enrich your prayer!The Church wants us praying the Rosary very much. She
attaches a plenary indulgence to the recitation of five decades of the Rosary in a church or oratory. She even grants this same indulgence to
the family Rosary! St. Louis de Montfort says that children should pray five decades of the Rosary per day. He encourages adults to pray
15 decades each day (Pope Francis reportedly does this)! 15 decades of Hail Mary's replicates in our lives the ancient monastic custom of
praying each day all 150 psalms. The Rosary is the psalter of the active life! No matter how many decades we can pray, we can always
pray them with as much attention and devotion as possible, using rich reflections from the saints and beautiful images. Let us start this
quality-focused approach to the Holy Rosary today, as we begin this new Month of the Rosary, 2016. Our Lady of Victory, Queen of the
Most Holy Rosary, teach us to pray in your Heart!

PARISH FESTIVAL REPORT
I am so grateful to Almighty God and His Most Holy Mother, Our
Lady of the Pillar, for the beautiful parish festival that we celebrated
last Sunday. The whole day was full of grace and joy for all of us.
We collected an amazing $11,854 in total, and the raffle is still open!
Thank you again to all parishioners who participated in this event,
especially to our generous volunteers and sponsors. Father Previtali

Nuestra Señora del Pilar, por el hermoso festival de la parroquia que
celebramos el domingo pasado. El día entero estaba lleno de gracia y
de alegría para todos nosotros. Nosotros recaudamos la cantidad
total de $11,854 y todavía estamos vendiendo boletos par a la
rifa! Gracias nuevamente a todos los parroquianos que participaron

Couples planning to be married must
contact a priest well in advance of the
wedding date. They must also receive
personal preparation for entering marriage. If either party has previously
gone through any form of civil or religious marriage with another person,
the priest is not permitted to set a date
for the wedding until the Archbishop’s
office has been consulted. It should be noted that Catholics,
in order to marry validly, must marry before the parish priest
or his delegate and two witnesses. A civil marriage or a marriage before non-Catholic minister is not a valid marriage.
Couples in such “marriages” should contact a priest to have
the situation rectified.
Parejas que estén planeando casarse necesitan ponerse en
contacto con un sacerdote antes de planear el día de la boda.
Ellos también necesitan recibir preparación personal durante
su matrimonio. Si cualquier persona de la pareja a estado
casado anteriormente con otra persona el Sacerdote no puede
poner la fecha hasta que la oficina de la Arquidiócesis lo
apruebe. Tienen que tener en cuenta que los Católicos en

frente a el Sacerdote de su Parroquia y dos testigos. Un matrimonio civil ante una persona que no es Católica no es valido para la Iglesia Católica. Parejas que estén en esta situación deben contactar a un Sacerdote para que arregle su situación.

Novena Para Nuestra Señora del Pillar
Cinco Avemarías
1. En alabanza de la hora en que María Santísima vino en carne mortal a Zaragoza. Avemaría
2. Por haberle erigido el Apóstol Santiago, por mandato de la Santísima Virgen,
su santo Templo en Zaragoza, el primero del mundo dedicado a su nombre. Avemaría.
3. Por habernos dejado como un don precioso su sagrada Imagen, que es nuestro
amparo y consuelo en toda tribulación. Avemaría.
4. Por el santo Pilar o Columna angélica, símbolo de la fortaleza y estabilidad de
la fe católica en Zaragoza, hasta el fin del mundo. Avemaría.
5. En acción de gracias por los infinitos beneficios que desde su venida nos ha
dispensado como excelsa Protectora de nuestra España. Avemaría.
Ahora se pide al Señor, por la intercesión de la Santísima Virgen, la gracia particular que cada uno desea conseguir en esta Novena; y luego se dice la siguiente
oración final:
¡Oh María! ¡Hija de Dios Padre!, amparad a la Iglesia, que desde su principio ha
reclamado vuestra protección. Reconoced en ella la Esposa de Vuestro único
Hijo, que la ha rescatado con el precio de toda su sangre. Haced que resplandezca
con tal brillo de santidad, que pueda presentarse digna de su divino Esposo, y del
precio con que fue redimida ¡Madre de Dios Hijo! que ilumina a todo hombre que
viene a este mundo. ¡Aurora brillante de este sol divino! disipad las tinieblas de la
herejía y del cisma. Haced que todos sigan la luz de la verdad, y se apresuren a
entrar en el seno de la verdadera Iglesia, donde juntamente con Jesús os conozcan
con una viva fe, os invoquen con una esperanza firme, y os amen con un amor
perfecto. ¡Esposa del Espíritu Santo, que ha reunido en un sólo rebaño y en una
misma religión, tantas y tan diferentes naciones!, derramad sobre los Príncipes
cristianos y sus ministros la abundancia de gracias, de que sois dispensadora.
Penetrad sus corazones del espíritu de paz y de concordia, que al nacer vuestro
hijo se anunció a la tierra: que nada emprendan contrario a la paz y libertad de
vuestra Iglesia. ¡Oh María, Templo de la Santísima Trinidad, toda pura y sin
mancha en vuestra Concepción! Mirad con ojos de misericordia a la nación española, vuestra nación predilecta, que tanto habéis distinguido de las demás; a pesar
de sus pecados, continuad siempre en amarla: mantenedla en la fe católica, apostólica, romana: conservadla en la unidad católica, a fin de que defendida por vuestra gracia de todo error estando al abrigo de toda disensión, y consagrada a servir
a vuestro Santísimo Hijo y a Vos con un culto digno, pueda marchar constantemente al fin que le habéis prometido, y merecer teneros siempre por su Protectora
en la tierra, y por su Reina y Corona en el Cielo. Así sea.
Novena to Our Lady of The Pillar
Five Hail Mary's:
1. In praise of the time Mary came to Zaragoza in mortal flesh. Hail Mary.
2. By having the Apostle James, by order of the Blessed Virgin, erect his holy
Temple in Zaragoza, the world's first dedicated to his name, Hail Mary.
3. Have left us as a precious gift her sacred image, which is our refuge and comfort in every tribulation. Hail Mary.
4. For the Holy Pillar or Angelic Column, a symbol of the strength and stability
of the Catholic faith in Zaragoza until the end of the world. Hail Mary.
5. In thanksgiving for the countless benefits from her coming has shown us the

Now you ask the Lord, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin, the particular grace that everyone wants to get in the Novena.
Closing Prayer:

has rescued all with the of His blood. Make them shine so brightly in holiness,
which may appear worthy of her divine Spouse, and the price that was redeemed.

Bright Aurora this Divine Sun, vanquish the darkness of heresy and schism. May
they all follow the light of truth, and rush into the bosom of the true Church,
where together with Jesus, I know with a living faith, we call upon you with a
firm hope and love you with a perfect love. Wife of the Holy Spirit, who has
gathered in one flock and one religion so many different nations , pour over
Christian princes and ministers and abundance of grace which you are dispensing.
Penetrate their hearts with spirit of peace and harmony, that was announced to the
earth at the birth of your Son; that nothing may undertake against the peace and
freedom of Your Church. O Mary, Temple of the Holy Trinity, all pure and
blameless in your Conception, look through eyes of mercy on Spanish nation,
your favorite nation, which you have distinguish from others; despite their sins,
always continue to love her. Keep it in the Catholic, Apostolic and Roman faith;
preserve it in Catholic unity so that defended by Thy grace from error and being
protected from any dissension, and dedicated to serve your Holy Son and you
with a dignified worship, may constantly proceed to the end you have promised,
and always deserve you for their Protection on earth and their Queen and Crown
in Heaven. So be it.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
El 7 de octubre la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de la Virgen del Rosario, que conmemora la victoria de los ejércitos cristianos contra los turcos musulmanes
en la batalla de Lepanto, el 7 de octubre de 1571. El Papa en ese momento
era San Pío V, que , después de haber sido un miembro de la Orden de Predicadores, fue un gran amante y promotor del Santo Rosario. El Rosario
había sido especialmente encomendada por la Madre Bendita de Santo Domingo unos 350 años antes como el medio por el cual Dominico conquistaría herejías en el sur de Europa. En un momento de gran crisis y el miedo,
San Pío, siempre el fiel hijo de Santo Domingo, instó a todos los cristianos a
rezar el Rosario por la victoria en la defensa de la Europa cristiana de los
invasores. La victoria naval por la "Liga Santa" en Lepanto fue un regalo de
la Madre de Dios, en cuyo corazón inmaculado Rosario lleva unidos. La
fiesta de su victoria el 7 de Octubre, hace que Octubre sea el Mes del Santo
Rosario.
Hay muchos libros y sitios web y "expertos" en la espiritualidad y la oración
y la paz interior en estos días. Para estar seguros, no son todos malos. Sin
embargo, tienden a un exceso de complicar el asunto de la vida espiritual. La
verdad es que, en el Santo Rosario, el siente que necesita una profunda vida
de oración y meditación.
El Rosario es realmente el método perfecto de la oración. Contiene las oraciones vocales más sublimes, que se sacan en gran parte de la Escritura Oración del Señor ( "Padre nuestro"), integrada por el mismo Jesús, y la
Salutación Angélica ( "Ave María"), integrada por la inspiración del Espíritu
Santo - y contiene los misterios centrales de nuestra fe para nuestra meditación mientras rezamos las oraciones vocales. Reúne a los dos tipos de oración que el hombre puede iniciar. Se pone en nuestros labios las peticiones

Para rezar bien el Rosario, tenemos que utilizar buenas reflexiones sobre los
misterios. Esto mantiene nuestra mente de distraerse mientras recitamos las
oraciones vocales. Las meditaciones compuestas por San Josemaría Escrivá
son particularmente hermosas. O usar de cualquiera de los santos! Sólo si
meditamos sobre los misterios con atención y devoción el Rosario nos traerá la paz interior y la alegría que es nuestro refrigerio espiritual. También
será útil usar el arte sagrado para mantener a nuestros sentidos en sintonía
con los misterios. El Internet es un rico tesoro de las dos meditaciones por
los santos y obras maestras de los grandes artistas. Utiliza estos medios disponibles para enriquecer tu oración!
La Iglesia quiere que nosotros recemos el Rosario muchas veces. Se concede la indulgencia plenaria a la recitación de cinco décadas del Rosario en la
iglesia u oratorio. Incluso se otorga esta misma indulgencia a la familia de
Rosario! San Luis de Montfort dice que los niños deben rezar cinco decenas
del Rosario por día. El anima a los adultos a orar 15 décadas cada día (según
los informes el Papa Francisco hace esto)! 15 décadas de Avemarías se replica en nuestras vidas en la antigua costumbre monástica de rezar cada día los
150 salmos. El Rosario es el salterio de la vida activa! No importa cuántas
décadas podemos orar, siempre tenemos que orar con mucha atención y
devoción como sea posible, usando buenas reflexiones de los santos y bellas
imágenes. Vamos a empezar con este enfoque de calidad acercándonos al
Santo Rosario el día de hoy, al comenzar este nuevo mes del Rosario, 2016.
Nuestra Señora de la Victoria, Reina del Santísimo Rosario, enséñanos a
rezar de corazón!
