Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,,
On November 1 we celebrate the feast of All Saints (All Hallows), in which we witness the glorious diversity of God's holiness lived by men and
women throughout the ages. On November 2 the Church keeps the commemoration of All Souls, on which we pray in a special way for all of the holy
souls in Purgatory. These two feast days inaugurate this final month of the liturgical year, in which the Church especially contemplates the four "Last
Things": death, judgment, Heaven and Hell.
Purgatory is not one of the Last Things. It is only a temporary state for those on the way to Heaven. If we die in the state of grace, yet still retain various imperfections due to our attachments to creatures, we need to be purified of these imperfections and attachments before we are ready for the fullness of life in God. This purification is called Purgatory. The souls in Purgatory are suffering greatly. This is partly due to the temporal punishment
due to their forgiven sins and partly due to the power of their attachments. They will one day be in Heaven, but now they are totally passive and receiving the purifying fire of Jesus’ Healing Love. They need our prayers and sufferings to help them speedily along their way.
All Souls' Day is especially unique for priests because it is one of only two days (Christmas, as well) in the whole liturgical year in which a priest may
celebrate, without any pastoral reason required, three Masses in one day. So valuable is the Mass for the souls in Purgatory, that the Church begs her
priests on this day to exercise fully their sublime privilege in offering the Divine Sacrifice. On November 2, throughout the whole Church, extra Masses will be offered for all the souls undergoing purification in Purgatory, helping them along their way to the Beatific Vision in Heaven.
The first eight days of November are also unique in the whole liturgical year because they are privileged days for visiting cemeteries and praying for
the dead there. The Church offers a plenary indulgence, applicable only to the souls in Purgatory, for our visits to cemeteries during the first eight days
of the Month of the Dead. If we fulfill the usual conditions, we can do this great act of charity for a soul undergoing its purification by simply visiting
a cemetery!
November is something of a somber month. In this time, the Church contemplates the mystery of human mortality - the truth that this world is not our
final home, that life as we know it is passing away and will end with our death. In the light of this sober meditation on our mortality, we are blessedly
invited to consider how we are going to spend eternity. The marvelous and terrible mystery of human freedom is especially in evidence here, as we
realize that the difference between Heaven and Hell is simply a matter of our choosing to cooperate with God's grace.
That is why it's important to remember that we begin the month with a celebration of sanctity. Even though we spend the rest of the month focused on
praying for the souls in Purgatory, we always have in our vision the end for which the souls in Purgatory - and we on earth - are striving: the allconsuming delight of heavenly glory. As we enter upon this time of contemplation of the Last Things, we beg the intercession of all the saints who
have gone before us into the Divine Life of Heaven. We pray especially to those anonymous saints who have been helped through Purgatory by our
prayers and sacrifices. We beg especially these special friends of ours to pray for us that we may join them one day in Heaven.

under the usual conditions, a plenary indulgence, applicable only to

and parish festival fundraisers
successful. I continue to be so
inspire by your generous service. We collected $5,939.50 in
tamales sales and $2,901.00 in Parish festival raffle. The grand total for our parish festival fundraise was $ 12,750.42 , which will contribute to
paying our part in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, our remaining balance for the Annual Appeal, after this payment, is $5,860.00.

WEDDINGS/ BODAS
Couples planning to be married must contact a priest well in advance of the wedding
date. They must also receive personal preparation for entering marriage. If either party
has previously gone through any form of
civil or religious marriage with another person, the priest is not permitted to set a date
for the wedding until the Archbishop’s office has been consulted. It should be noted
that Catholics, in order to marry validly, must marry before the
parish priest or his delegate and two witnesses. A civil marriage or
a marriage before non-Catholic minister is not a valid marriage.
Couples in such “marriages” should contact a priest to have the
situation rectified.
Parejas que estén planeando casarse necesitan ponerse en contacto
con un sacerdote antes de planear el día de la boda. Ellos también
necesitan recibir preparación personal durante su matrimonio. Si
cualquier persona de la pareja a estado casado anteriormente con
otra persona el Sacerdote no puede poner la fecha hasta que la oficina de la Arquidiócesis lo apruebe. Tienen que tener en cuenta que
los Católicos en orden para que el matrimonio sea valido, necesitan
casarse el frente a el Sacerdote de su Parroquia y dos testigos. Un
matrimonio civil ante una persona que no es Católica no es valido
para la Iglesia Católica. Parejas que estén en esta situación deben
contactar a un Sacerdote para que arregle su situación.
El Martes 1ro. De Noviembre es la Solemnidad de Todos los
Santos. Es un día de obligación que significa que es un día
que descansamos de nuestro trabajo y asistimos a Misa.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
El 1 de Noviembre se celebra la fiesta de Todos los Santos en la que somos
testigos de la gloriosa diversidad de la santidad de Dios vivida por los hombres
y mujeres de todas las épocas. El 2 de noviembre, la Iglesia mantiene la conmemoración del Día de los Muertos, en el que se reza de una manera especial para
todas las almas del Purgatorio. Estos dos días de fiesta inauguran este último
mes del año litúrgico, en el que la Iglesia contempla especialmente las cuatro
“Ultimas Cosas:” muerte, juicio, el Cielo y el Infierno.
El purgatorio no es una de las últimas cosas, es sólo un estado temporal para
aquellos en el camino al Cielo. Si morimos en el estado de gracia, aunque conservan diversas imperfecciones debido a nuestros apegos a lo material, tenemos
que ser purificados de estas imperfecciones y de estos apegos antes de estar
preparados para la plenitud de la vida en Dios. Esta purificación se llama Purgatorio. Las almas del Purgatorio están sufriendo enormemente. Esto se debe en
parte a la pena temporal debida a los pecados perdonados y en parte debido a la
potencia de sus bienes materiales. Ellos estarán un día en el cielo, pero ahora
son totalmente pasivos y reciben el fuego purificado por la curación del amor
de Jesús. Ellos necesitan nuestras oraciones y sufrimientos para ayudarles a que
lo largo de su camino sea mas rápido.
Día de Todos los Santos es especialmente único para los sacerdotes, ya que es
uno de dos días (también Navidad) en todo el año litúrgico en el que un sacerdote puede celebrar, sin ninguna razón pastoral requerida, tres misas en un día.
Tan valiosa es la misa por las almas del Purgatorio, que la Iglesia pide a sus
sacerdotes en este día ejercer plenamente su sublime privilegio en ofrecer el
Sacrificio Divino. El 2 de Noviembre , a lo largo de toda la Iglesia, Misas adicionales serán ofrecidas por todas las almas que se están sometiendo a la purificación en el Purgatorio, ayudándoles a lo largo de su camino a una visión beatífica en el cielo.
Los ocho primeros días de noviembre también son únicos en todo el año litúrgico, ya que son días privilegiados para visitar los cementerios y orar por los
muertos . La Iglesia ofrece una indulgencia plenaria, aplicable únicamente a las
almas del Purgatorio, por nuestras visitas a los cementerios durante los primeros ocho días del Mes de los Muertos. Si cumplimos con las condiciones habituales, podemos hacer este gran acto de caridad para un alma que se esta sometiendo a su purificación, simplemente visitando un cementerio!
El mes de noviembre es algo así como un mes sombrío. En este momento, la
Iglesia contempla el misterio de la mortalidad humana - la verdad es que este
mundo no es nuestro hogar final, que esta vida tal como la conocemos va pasando, y terminaremos con nuestra muerte. A la luz de esta meditación sobria
en nuestra mortalidad, se nos invita a considerar felizmente cómo vamos a pasar la eternidad. El misterio maravilloso y terrible de la libertad humana es especialmente evidente aquí, ya que nos damos cuenta de que la diferencia entre
el Cielo y el Infierno es simplemente una cuestión de nuestra elección de
cooperar con la gracia de Dios.
Es por eso que es importante recordar que empezamos el mes con una celebración de santidad. A pesar de que pasamos el resto del mes centrados en rezar
por las almas del Purgatorio, siempre tenemos en nuestra visión el fin para que
las almas del Purgatorio - y aquí en la tierra - nos esforzamos: a que todo el
deleite se consuma con la gloria celestial. A medida que entramos en este momento de la contemplación de las Cosas Pasadas, rogamos por la intercesión de
todos los santos que nos han precedido dentro de la Divina Vida del Cielo. Oramos especialmente a los santos anónimos que han sido ayudados en el Purgatorio por nuestras oraciones y sacrificios. Suplicamos especialmente a estos amigos especiales para que oren por nosotros para que un día podamos unirnos con
ellos en el Cielo.
