convenient for you. Remember that your
attendance is very important so we can
work together to present to the Bishop
what we have done during the first year
of the Hispanic Ministry Iniciative.

de Ray City, Valdosta y Warner Robins, te invitan al Congreso de familias que será celebrado en dos locaciones para
facilitar tu asistencia. El invitado especial de ese día será el
Dr. Fernando Casanova quien dará su testimonio de vida
además de charlas sobre el servicio, el matrimonio y la
familia, También durante ese día habrá música de alabanza,
adoración al Santísimo Sacramento y la celebración de la
Santa Misa..

The Diocese of Savannah, with the support of the Parishes
of Ray City, Valdosta and Warner Robins, invites you to the
Congress of Families that will be held in two different locations to facilitate your attendance. The special guest of the
day will be Dr. Fernando Casanova, who will share his testimony of life, in addition to lectures on service, marriage
and family. Also, during that day, there will be music of
praise, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the celebration of Holy Mass .

El Tribunal Diocesano habla español!
The Diocesan Tribunal speaks Spanish!
El Dr. David Castronovo, JD, JCD., es el nuevo Juez y Director del Tribunal. El Estudió Derecho Canónico en Roma
y recibió su JCD . Él tambien recibió un entrenamiento de
tres años en el Tribunal Apostólico de la Rota Romana.
Habla con fluidez Italiano, Inglés y Español!
Dr. David Castronovo, JD, JCD., is the new Judge and Director of the Diocesan Tribunal. He studied Canon Law in
Rome and received his J.C.D. He has been trained for three
years at the Apostolic Tribunal of the Roman Rota. He
speaks Italian, English and Spanish fluently !
Ministerio a personas en Centros de Detención
El Refugio: Programa de Visitas a individuos en el Centro
de Detención Stewart Lumpkin, Georgia
Muchos hispanos están detenidos en el Centro de Detención de Stewart en Lumpkin, Ga. La mayoría de ellos están
ahí debido a problemas de inmigración. En el año 2010, se
abrió una casa de hospitalidad para servir a las familias y
amigos de los detenidos en el Centro de Detención de Stewart. El nombre del lugar es El Refugio.
El refugio, es una organización sin fines de lucro que funciona por medio de voluntarios. Los familiares y amigos
de los detenidos que visitan el Refugio reciben comida y
alojamiento gratis, así como apoyo emocional y espiritual.
Los voluntarios ayudan en mantener la casa y a la vez visitan a los detenidos que no tienen quien los visite. Las visitas de grupo pueden ser coordinadas por los líderes de las
casas de voluntarios. Si usted desea hospedarse ahí para
poder visitar a un amigo o un ser querido, o si desea convertirte en un voluntario para ayudar en la casa y / o visitar
a los detenidos cuando sus seres queridos no pueden visitarlos llame al 229-234-9022. Los voluntarios son bilingües - inglés y español-. Para más información visite

Prison Ministry
El Refugio : Visitation Program for individual at the Stewart Detention Center Lumpkin, Georgia
Many Hispanics are detained at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumkin, GA. The majority of them are in there because of immigration issues. In 2010, a hospitality house
was launched to better serve the families and friends of detainees at the Stewart Detention Center. It is completely volunteer-operated and is currently in operation on most weekends.
At El Refugio visitors receive free meals and lodging as
well as emotional and spiritual support. Volunteers staff the
house and visit with detainees at the detention center. Group
visitations can be coordinated by our volunteer house leaders. If you want to go as a guest so you can visit a friend or a
loved one, or if you want to become a volunteer who helps
on the house and/ or visit detainees when their loved ones
cannot visit, call 229-234-9022. The volunteers are bilingual in English and Spanish. You can also learn more about

Curso de formación en la fe en línea
Este curso ofrece una introducción enriquecedora a la fe y
la teología católica, utilizando el Catecismo Católico de los
Estados Unidos para los Adultos. El curso explora seis
áreas primordiales y sirve como base para aquellos que
quieren continuar estudios teológicos o buscan desarrollar
competencia teológica para el ministerio. El costo del curso

La habilidad de hablar inglés es algo esencial tanto para
obtener legalización como para llevar una vida más productiva en los Estados Unidos. Duolingo es un sitio web
destinado al aprendizaje gratuito de idiomas a la vez que es
una plataforma crowdsourcing de traducción de textos. El
servicio está diseñado de tal forma que a medida que el
usuario avanza en su aprendizaje ayuda a traducir páginas
web y otros documentos. El programa está libre de anuncios y los usuarios no tienen que hacer ningún pago. Para

Notas de formación del Tribunal Diocesano
Siempre hay algo de confusión y malentendidos sobre el
proceso de anulación de la Iglesia Católica Romana. A veces se supone erróneamente que los matrimonios de bautizados no católicos no son reconocidos por la Iglesia Católica como uniones válidas. Estos matrimonios son de hecho
reconocidos por la Iglesia Católica, y la declaración de nulidad es necesaria antes de que un no católico divorciado
pueda ser libre para casarse en la Iglesia Católica.
Otra fuente de confusión sobre el trabajo del tribunal se da
en relación al hecho de que hay diferentes razones para la
investigación de matrimonios.
Un matrimonio católico valido es el resultado de diferente
elementos: (1) los cónyuges son libres de casarse; (2) ellos
libremente intercambian su consentimiento; (3) en su consentimiento para casarse, tienen la intención de casarse para toda la vida, a ser fieles el uno al otro, están abiertos a
tener hijos, que pretenden el bien del otro; y (4) el consentimiento se da en presencia de dos testigos y ante un sacerdote debidamente autorizado o Diácono. Las excepciones a
este último requisito debe ser aprobado por la autoridad de
la iglesia.

Online Faith Formation in Spanish
Using the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (in
Spanish) as a primary text, this course will explore six core
areas and will serve as a good foundation for those who seek
to continue theological studies or develop theological competency for ministry. The cost of the course is $50 and is
open to everyone. The program will start on August 31,
2015 and ends on October 16, 2015. For registration and

Learn English (or Spanish) Spanish and other languages
for free
For both immigration legalization purposes and for a more
productive life in the United States, the ability to speak English is essential. Duolingo is a free language-learning platform that includes a language-learning app along with a
crowdsourced text translation platform and a language proficiency assessment center. Duolingo is ad-free and users are
not charged for its services.

Formation notes from the Diocesan Tribunal
There is always some confusion and misunderstandings regarding the annulment process of the Roman Catholic
Church. It is sometimes incorrectly assumed that the marriages of baptized non-Catholics are not recognized by the
Catholic Church as valid unions. These marriages are in fact
recognized by the Catholic Church, and declaration of nullity is necessary before a divorced non-Catholic may be free
to marry in the Catholic Church. Another source of confusion regarding the work of the tribunal is the fact that there
are several different types of processes for the investigation
of marriages.
A valid Catholic marriage results from different elements:
(1) the spouses are free to marry; (2) they freely exchange
their consent; (3) in consenting to marry, they have the intention to marry for life, to be faithful to one another and be
open to children; they intend the good of each other; and (4)
their consent is given in the presence of two witnesses and
before a properly authorized Priest or Deacon. Exceptions to
the last requirement must be approved by church authority.
