TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Parishioners,
Peace and blessings!
Thank you to all who
came to our two pot luck
dinners, here at Immaculate and
at Grace Lutheran. Both
evenings were well attended and
there was such a good spirit of togetherness which is
so important as we follow our newly signed Covenant.
Please be alert in the area of Immaculata
School. School is opening this month and children will
be around. Special caution for those who come to the
8:30 or 12:10 daily Masses.
A gentle reminder: if you find yourself bumping into another car in one of the lots, don’t just drive
off. Please leave a name and number. Sometimes the
cost of repairs is more than one thinks. Trust me, I
know.
Monday, September 5th, Bishops Jugis and
Curlin will offer a special Mass of Thanksgiving for the
gift of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, who will be canonized Sept. 4th. The Mass will be at 11:00 at Our Lady
of Assumption Church in Charlotte. Everyone is invited.

Immaculate Conception has two teams cooking and
serving meals at the Boys & Girls Club on Friday
afternoons (usually every six weeks). At present, we
have most of the cooks and servers needed, although
we would love to have some people who could fill in
at the last minute if needed. We do need some people
who will shop for groceries and some who could
transport food or equipment to and from the B & G
Club. Please consider giving an hour or two to one of

YOU can help ICS earn money by collecting and clipping Box Tops. Each clip is worth $.10. Occasionally,
Bonus Box Tops or Bonus eBoxTops of a different value are issued for special promotions. Clipped Box Tops
can be dropped off at the Grocery Cards table at church or at the school office. It is most helpful to place 50 Box
Tops in a baggie, but any number of Box Tops is appreciated! You can find a PRODUCT LIST of cereals,
meals, refrigerated foods and snacks on the GROCERY CARDS table. Our school can use the money for
anything it needs! Computers, books, and playground equipment are just some of the ways they can use the
funds raised through Box Tops for Education. Immaculata earned more than $1200 from Box Tops for the
2015-2016 school year. Thank you for your continuing support of Immaculata Catholic School!
ATTENTION GROCERY CARD SELLERS: In or der to comply with new Diocesan r egulations, ther e
will be a MANDATORY training session for all current and potential grocery card sellers on Wednesday,
September 7th at 5:30pm in the school. We look forward to seeing all current card sellers and those who wish to
join us. This is an excellent opportunity for Immaculata parents to fulfill their participation requirement and for

“CATHOLIC
PRESENCE”
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED:
Immaculate Conception Parish is joining with
St. Barnabas again this year to bring a Catholic
presence to the Mountain State Fair, September 9 – 18,
at the Ag Center near the airport. The purpose of the
booth is to reach out to the community to share the
Good News of Jesus Christ and to answer questions
and dispel myths about the Catholic Church. We need
volunteers to help staff the booth during the Fair.
Being an active Catholic knowledgeable about our
faith, a good listener and a people person are the
predominate attributes that will make our booth a
success. Fair passes will be provided to volunteers,
which will cover admission to the Fairgrounds each

All have a Baptismal call to serve the Lord and His Church in some capacity. Pray, discern, is the Lord calling
you to serve Him in His Youth?! These teens/youth of our parish are in need of more Small Group Leaders.
- EDGE & Life Teen SGL meet weekly over the summer to pray together, share faith journeys together and talk
about the ministries (what is the Lord calling us to do, how to better serve, meet the needs of the youth/teens)
- We meet Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm in meeting room #1 in the church office area. We will continue to meet for
most of August. Even if you haven't made it yet to a summer gathering, come this week! It is a blessed time.

BOARD FUNDRAISER in AUGUST—WOW!!!!
We had an INCREDIBLE START to our fundraiser, now called “The Frame”, so named by one of our high school teens. We
kicked it off at each of the Masses and filled all but 9 envelopes, WOW. Thank you!!! We will have The Frame at Masses this
weekend too, so please join with your neighbors, friendly parishioners around you, and help to fill these remaining
envelopes. I am so humbled and overjoyed with your response to this initial fundraiser to kick-off our new year of youth
ministry, and in preparation for our upcoming events next year—Mission Trip to Haiti for older teens, and Summer Camp for
EDGE youth.

Wednesday, September 7 at 7pm, with GREAT FUN in store
EDGE is the Faith Formation program/Youth Ministry for all 6th-8th grade students. We meet
weekly from 7-8:30pm in the Immaculata School Gym.
Next week we will hold 3 parent meetings for parents of EDGE youth to attend any one of the
meetings. These are very important for parents to attend to understand the expectations and
plans for the year in EDGE. Meeting Days/Times TBA next week.

21er Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Para entender el Evangelio y vivirlo debemos de tener un corazón puro y una mente abierta. La cerrazón de
cabeza no lleva a ningún lado; hay que abrir el corazón a su palabra. Esto es lo que Isaías trataba de hacerle
entender a la gente de su tiempo: "De entre ellos escogeré sacerdotes y levitas" (Is 66, 21). La lección puede
ser aprovechada hoy en la comunidad de creyentes al aceptar sacerdotes de toda raza, color y de diferentes
culturas para servir en nuestras parroquias. También es un verdadero gozo el poder colaborar y trabajar juntos con otras
culturas y tradiciones.
El texto del Evangelio por el otro lado inicia con una pregunta que hacen los discípulos a Jesús. "¿Es verdad que son
pocos los que se salvan?" La pregunta viene por la tendencia del pensamiento religioso de la época de Jesús. Según algunos
se salvarían todos los hebreos que participaban del reino futuro, según otros solo los que observaban la ley. Jesús rompe el
esquema y da respuesta para todos. No basta con ser religioso y fiel a las propias tradiciones, o cumplir con algunos
preceptos. Lo único para Jesús es que haya un esfuerzo sincero en atravesar la puerta angosta. Es decir, no perder tanto
tiempo en nuestras devociones e ideas religiosas, más bien pidamos que Dios nos dé fuerza de su Espíritu, para que
superemos con valentía cristiana las pruebas que nos da la vida. Porque no vaya a ser que ni veamos esa puerta angosta
entretenidos en otras cosas vanas de la vida. Ojo, recuerda: "Los que ahora son los últimos, serán los primeros; y los que
ahora son los primeros, serán los últimos" (Lc 13, 30).
En aquel tiempo, Jesús iba enseñando por ciudades y pueblos, mientras se encaminaba a Jerusalén. Alguien le preguntó:
"Señor, ¿es verdad que son pocos los que se salvan?" Jesús le respondió: "Esfuércense por entrar por la puerta, que es
angosta". - Lc 13, 22-24
TALLER DE QUINCEANERAS Y
PADRES DE FAMILIA: Este taller es un
requisito para poder tener una misa de 15 años.

Nuestra parroquia de La Inmaculada tendrá inscripciones
para el programa de formación de fe, lo cual incluye
(Primera Comunión, Confirmación y el Catequesis del
Buen Pastor) el domingo 21 de agosto después de las dos
misas dominicales en español. Por favor venga preparado
con la copia de la fe de bautismo de su hijo y 35 dólares en
efectivo o cheque para cubrir el costo de registración. El

BAUTISMOS PARA EL MES DE SEPTIEMBRE
Los Bautismos para el próximo mes de mayo
se llevan acabo el domingo, 4 de septiembre
durante la Misa dominical. La clase de
preparación bautismal, que es un requisito
para los papas y padrinos, tendrá lugar el día anterior,
sábado, 3 de septiembre a las 10 AM, en el Salón San
Francisco.

FORMACION EN LA FE
Las catequistas ya tienen las formas de
inscripción para el próximo año. La forma
es la misma para la Confirmación, la Primera
Comunión, el catecismo en general y la
catequesis del Buen Pastor. Favor de enviar
todos los documentos al mismo tiempo.
Si su hijo está en el Segundo año de preparación
sacramental anexe la copia de la fe de bautismo,
aunque haya sido bautizado aquí en la Inmaculada.
Acuérdese por favor que la Formación Moral y
religiosa de sus hijos es el REGALO MAS
IMPORTANTE que usted como padre o madre de
familia puede dar a sus hijos. LA FORMACION NO
ES SOLO PARA LOS SACRAMENTOS SINO PARA
LA VIDA. Vivan la fe en casa todos los días de

TALLER DE PRECANA: El próximo
taller de preparación prematrimonial,
Pre-Cana, se llevara acabo el sábado, 20 de
agosto de 9:00AM a 4:00PM en la

NC. Este taller es un requisito para todas las parejas
que desean casarse por la Iglesia. El costo será de $25

El Cursillo de Cristiandad es un instrumento suscitado
por Dios para el anuncio del Evangelio en nuestro

es hacer posible que la persona conozca y viva "lo
fundamental cristiano" mediante el anuncio kerigmático del acontecimiento de Cristo, "por la vía de la
amistad" y del encuentro comunitario. Pero no se trata
sólo de que el creyente conozca y viva su fe
privadamente o en un grupo cerrado, sino que, además
-segundo objetivo- ha de ser "fermento en los
ambientes", difundiendo su fe vivida e invitando al

El Congreso Eucarístico 2016: Este año el
decimo-primer Congreso Eucarístico de la

EL BAUTISMO
Los bautizos son el primer domingo del mes, después de
la Misa de la 1:30 PM. La clase de preparación, que es
un requisito para los padres y padrinos, tendrá lugar el
sábado a las 10 AM, en el Salón San Francisco. Por favor
lleven una copia del acta de nacimiento (No se aceptan
tarjetas, tiene que ser una acta con ambos nombres de
los papás). Requisitos para ser padrinos: Ser bautizado y
tener la intención de asumir las responsabilidades, tener
uso de razón, haber cumplido 18 años, estar confirmado,
haber hecho su Primera Comunión y llevar una vida de
fe. Los padrinos han de ser solteros o casados por la
Iglesia Católica. No pueden vivir en unión libre, ya que
deben de ser modelos de vida cristiana para los ahijados.
Para preguntas favor de llamar a Feliciano de la oficina al
693-6901. Los niños deben de tener la edad de 0 a 6
años. Si son mayores deberán atender la clase de la
Primera Comunión y un mes antes de terminar la
Primera Comunión serán Bautizados.
COMO
PEDIR
UNA
MISA
Para pedir una Misa por la intención de un ser querido,
difunto o vivo, llame a las oficinas de la iglesia al
693-6901 en horas laborales (lunes a jueves, 8:30AM4:30 PM, y viernes 8:30 AM-1:00 PM). Se necesita pedir
la Misa con al menos cuatro meses de anticipo. Se
acostumbra dar una ofrenda.
ALCOHÓLICOS ANÓNIMOS
Es una comunidad de hombres y mujeres que comparten
su mutua experiencia, fortaleza y esperanza para resolver
su problema común y ayudar a otros a recuperarse del
alcoholismo. El único requisito para ser miembro de
A.A. es tener el deseo de dejar la bebida. Para mas

¿POR QUÉ DEBO REGISTRARME EN MI PARROQUIA? Registrarse es muy importante para poder inscribir
a sus hijos en el colegio Immaculata, para el matrimonio,
para bautizos, Quinceañeras, y para cartas de
recomendación (Inmigración) de la Iglesia diciendo que
usted pertenece a nuestra congregación. En los archivos
parroquiales estará su nombre y será fácil encontrarlo
cuando usted solicite algo. Cada mes se le enviaran los
sobres para la limosna con su nombre y cuando utiliza los
sobres de la donación, la oficina parroquial reconoce que
usted es un miembro activo de nuestra congregación. La
cantidad donada no importa, su ayuda sí. El paquete de
registración lo pueden encontrar en el cuarto de las novia (a
un lado de baño de las mujeres), y también puede ser
encontrado en la oficina de la iglesia.
TARJETAS DE COMPRA: Por favor recuerden comprar
sus tarjetas de compra de las tiendas de Ingles y Fresh
Market, después de la Misa para beneficiar a nuestra
escuela de la Inmaculada. Al comprar un tarjeta de
comparas, ustedes recibirán el valor total de que pagaron en
sus tarjetas y el 5% de sus compras de tarjetas beneficiaran
directamente a nuestra escuela de la Inmaculada. Para
obtener su tarjeta de compras, lo único que tienen que hacer
es pasar a la mesa de ventas a la salida de la iglesia.

LA PRESENTACIÓN DE LOS NIÑOS
Cada segundo domingo del mes se invita a los niños y
niñas que cumplen los tres años ese mes para recibir
una bendición especial, junto con sus padres y
padrinos. Al igual que José y María cuando llevaron al
Niño Jesús al templo para consagrarlo al Señor,
también reconocemos que los hijos son de Dios, y a Su
servicio y cuidado se los encomendamos. Para poder
participar, deberá darle al Padre Roberto un
papelito con el nombre del niño o la niña
claramente escrito antes de empezar la Misa. El
Padre Roberto los invitará a subir al santuario después
de la celebración de la Eucaristía.
INFORMACIÓN SOBRE DONDE CONSEGUIR AYUDA
Si quiere saber a donde y como conseguir ayuda para
atención médica, cuidado de niños, necesidades
básicas como comida, alojamiento, luz y agua,
consejería, u otros servicios humanitarios, solo tiene
que marcar el 2-1-1 y explicarle a la operadora cual es
su necesidad. Se habla español de 3 a 7 PM, y le darán
el nombre, dirección y teléfono de la agencia donde
puedan prestarle ayuda.
AVISO Puede conseguir muebles, r opa y ar tículos
para el hogar en el depósito del Buen Samaritano, a un
lado del Colegio Inmaculada. Abrimos los martes de
5PM a 7PM, y los sábados de 10AM a 12PM.
También si usted tiene muebles, artículos para donar
en buena condición llame a Feliciano de la oficina para
hacer su donación. 693-6901.
MINISTERIO DE CUIDADO DE LOS ENFERMOS Si usted tiene algún familiar o conocido de la
comunidad que se encuentre enfermo y desea que se le
visité o se le lleve la Santa Comunión, bien sea en la
casa donde éste reside u hospital, puede comunicarse
con Feliciano de la oficina al 693-6901.

Nuestra iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción cuenta con
un puesto de oportunidades de trabajos para personas
quienes estén buscando un empleo o para quienes estén
necesitando trabajadores. Este puesto de trabajos está
colocado en la parte exterior del segundo piso de la
iglesia, al lado izquierdo de donde está la entrada
principal de la oficina de la iglesia. Si ustedes desean
